Ranking college football programs that have the most NFL Pro Bowl selections

Which college football programs have produced the most NFL Pro Bowlers?

We all know that Michigan State football has produced a lot of great NFL talent over the years, but where do the Spartans stack up in terms of the schools that have produced the most high-end, Pro Bowl level players?

This year, two more Michigan State football players look like they are in good position to make it in and bump this number up.

Recently, the College Football Report put out the list of the top-19 college football programs in terms of Pro Bowl selections. Perhaps the craziest thing will be where MSU comes in, as well as one of their rivals, a certain school located in Ann Arbor…

So which college football programs have the most NFL Pro Bowl selections? Find out below.

The NFL is entering the home stretch, and we are starting to get our first look at how the Pro Bowl is shaping up. As usual, there are some MSU players who are in great position to make the Pro Bowl, but they aren’t the guys we would normally suspect, like Kirk Cousins and Jack Conklin.

There are currently two former Michigan State football players leading their positions in Pro Bowl voting, and both are on special teams.

We take a look at both players below.

Michigan State sports fans could probably use some good news right now given how the basketball team has started their season, and may I suggest for those in need of something positive, to take a look at what Jayden Reed has been accomplishing for the Green Bay Packers?

Reed, who was a second round pick by the Packers, has emerged as one of their top weapons this year, and the former MSU football star showed the world what he can do on Monday Night Football, scoring on a jet sweep:

The San Francisco 49ers beat their rivals, the Seattle Seahawks, on Sunday, 28-16, and after the game, a Michigan State football alumnus and current member of the 49ers, Taybor Pepper, had a viral moment.

This season, Seahawks’ star DK Metcalf, has been getting attention for using American Sign Language to talk trash and celebrate his touchdown receptions. In Sunday’s game, Metcalf was ejected for a hit on 49ers player Fred Warner. After the game, Pepper, who is the long snapper for the 49ers, used ASL to talk trash of his own to Metcalf.

You can watch it below:

I’m not going to translate it since it uses some poor language, so you’ll have to do your own research there.

Former Michigan State football CB Josiah Scott signed to Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad

Former MSU CB Josiah Scott has been signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad

Josiah Scott, a former Michigan State cornerback who had a solid collegiate career, has made himself a nice career in the NFL. Scott has spent four seasons between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles giving solid production.

The Eagles cut Josiah Scott a few days ago but then signed him to their practice squad in order to keep another Spartan, Ben VanSumeren, to the active roster.

Ben VanSumeren signed to Philadelphia Eagles active roster

Philly has signed Ben VanSumeren to their active roster:

Ben VanSumeren made waves during his college career, transferring from Michigan to Michigan State. He had a solid career at Michigan State before heading off to the NFL.

VanSumeren has latched on to the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent. Now, he has been signed to the active roster by the Eagles:

A former Michigan State linebacker will be available for Monday Night Football this week, as the Philadelphia Eagles elevated Ben VanSumeren to the active roster from their practice squad.

VanSumeren is an interesting player for the Eagles. I don’t think he was on anyone’s NFL radar when playing for MSU, but an extremely impressive Pro Day showed that he has clear, NFL-level athleticism and it seems that he is sticking around in the league and could have an opportunity to show it on a big stage tonight.

Michigan State football alum named to The Athletic’s NFL Midseason All-Rookie Team

MSU has one representative, and one honorable mention, on The Athletic’s Midseason All-Rookie Team

Bryce Baringer continues to light up the sport of football with his amazing punting ability. The former Michigan State football punter, now on the New England Patriots, is averaging 46.9 yards per punt and has stuck 22 punts inside the 20-yard.

For that, Baringer has been named to The Athletic’s NFL Midseason All-Rookie Team. Baringer is also third in the NFL in punt attempts.

Baringer was the only Spartan to make the official list, but former MSU wideout Jayden Reed received an honorable mention as well.
