Brian Hoyer isn’t going to come out and wing it around for 300 yards, but the combination of Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson should be just strong enough to carry the offense.

The Packers might be playing great defense overall, but teams are able to run when they give it a try – the Green Bay D is allowing close to five yards per carry.

Why Green Bay Packers Will Win

Turnovers.

The Patriots have killed themselves with eight giveaways in the first three games, costing them the Miami game and making life easier for Baltimore last week.

The New England passing game wasn’t as bad as it might seem, but it’s able to come up with enough midrange to deep throws to stretch the Green Bay defense once in a while.

Green Bay can run a little, too.

Of course Aaron Rodgers will be Aaron Rodgers when he needs to be, but the ground game that hammered Chicago for over 200 yards, and did enough against Tampa Bay to at least take some of the pressure off 12, should be able to control the tempo.

What’s Going To Happen

This is going to be a grind for both sides.

New England will try not to lose it with Hoyer under center, but the Green Bay run defense and pass rush will take over.

It’s not going to be easy, but the Packers will tilt the field and close out just a few more first half drives to let the ground game go from there.

It’s not like the Miami defense is anything that special, but the Patriots weren’t able to do much of anything against it in the 20-7 loss.

There wasn’t any running game to speak of, the passing game didn’t go anywhere, and the dry game was just about over at halftime.

If Pittsburgh could survive 338 passing yards from Joe Burrow and survive …

As long as the Steelers can keep forcing takeaways, and as long as the defensive pressure that got to Burrow seven times and keep rolling, there shouldn’t be any worries about getting hit with anything deep.

It’s not like the Pittsburgh offense did much of anything.

Chase Claypool – not Najee Harris – was the team’s leading rusher against the Bengals, and now Harris is hobbling.

New England doesn’t need to come up with a high-octane attack in this. All it has to do is not be -5 in turnover margin like Cincinnati was and everything else should work out.

The offense needs to take advantage of its opportunities, it needs to win third downs on defense, and it has to expect Mitchell Trubisky to struggle to keep the chains moving.

New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Tyquan Thornton underwent surgery to repair his broken clavicle

New England Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton had surgery Monday to repair his fractured clavicle, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Thornton is expected to be out between six to eight weeks while recovering from the procedure, but his actual timetable for return could vary, Fowler reports.

A second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of Baylor, Thornton’s elite speed and playmaking ability will be sorely missed in the meantime, as the Patriots offense struggled for much of the preseason.
