Noah Sewell lands with New England Patriots in latest ESPN 2023 mock draft

Noah Sewell in a Bill Belichick-led Patriots defense? That’s something we can get behind.

[jwplayer laD4SIaW]

Oregon fans feel pretty confident that linebacker Noah Sewell is going to keep the Ducks’ streak of first-round draft picks alive and well in 2023, but it’s unclear where he might go in that first round.

Some ambitious fans are proclaiming that he’s going to have such a great junior season in Eugene under Dan Lanning that his stock will rise to a top-10 player, which is relatively rare for an inside linebacker. Others see him going later, landing with an established playoff team that needs a little bit of help in the middle of the defense.

[lawrence-related id=23910]

According to ESPN’s Todd McShay, who released his first 2023 mock draft on Thursday, the answer is somewhere in the middle. McShay has Sewell going to the New England Patriots with the No. 15 overall pick in the draft.

The brother of 2021 first-rounder Penei Sewell, Noah Sewell can impact multiple areas of the game. The 6-foot-3, 251-pound linebacker had 110 tackles, four sacks and six pass breakups last season. And the Patriots are still looking for a leader in the middle of their defense.

Landing on a Bill Belichick-led defense as a rookie seems like a pretty prime place for Sewell, who has all of the intangibles to be an NFL great should he fit into the system. As one of the best defensive minds in the history of the NFL, you can feel comfortable that Belichick would utilize Sewell in the right way and get the most out of his talents.

Sewell was the only Oregon player to be listed in the 2023 mock draft, but that’s something that may change over the next 8-10 months or so. We know that, should Justin Flowe stay healthy and show more of what he can do, he will likely head to the NFL, and there are a number of incredibly talented defensive linemen like Brandon Dorlus, DJ Johnson, and Keyon Ware-Hudson who Lanning and Tosh Lupoi could turn into first-round picks as well.

Breaking: 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey commits to Oregon Ducks

Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class is taking shape. 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey — the No. 8 WR in 2023 — is going to be a Duck.

[jwplayer 6Go4Ut5x]

A blue-chip player has joined the Oregon Ducks 2023 recruiting class.

On Monday evening, 4-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey announced that he will be committing to the Ducks and heading to Eugene to play his college ball. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 8 WR in the 2023 class, and the No. 59 player overall.

Just last week, Dickey released a top-5 that included Oregon, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Penn State. However, it has been felt that he was strongly leaning towards the Ducks for some time now, with multiple Crystal Ball predictions on 247Sports landing him at Oregon.

The Ducks don’t have a loaded incoming class just yet, but they are still early in the cycle. So far in the 2023 class, Oregon has commitments from 4-star DB Cole Martin, and 3-star DL Tevita Pome’e. With the addition of Dickey, Oregon now jumps up to No. 35 in the national recruiting rankings, just behind Alabama and Arizona.

Oregon center N’Faly Dante announces return for 2022 season

N’Faly Dante is back for another year with the Ducks. A front court of him and 5-star C Kel’el Ware is going to be fun to watch.

[jwplayer 6Go4Ut5x]

The Oregon Ducks got some big news on Monday morning, with center N’Faly Dante announcing on social media that he plans to return to Eugene for the 2022 season rather than test the NBA draft waters.

This news was somewhat expected after Dont’e had a great year back from injury in 2021, but now it is confirmed.

The return of Dante is a major piece for Oregon, who has 5-star center Kel’el Ware coming to Eugene this summer. Putting him with Dante, while hoping that former 5-star center Nate Bittle can further develop, is something that Oregon fans have to look forward.

On top of what potential lineups can be, it’s also good new for Oregon after the recent transfer of center Franck Kepnang, who announced his commitment to Washington last week. Oregon also got word that guard Rivaldo Soares will be returning in 2022 as well, while Will Richardson and Quincy Guerrier test the NBA draft waters.

Jaylon Redd will look to get his football career back on track at a couple of NFL mini-camps this offseason.

[jwplayer laD4SIaW]

Only one member of the Oregon Ducks’ 2021 football team heard his name called in the 2022 NFL Draft, but a number of guys are heading to the next level as undrafted free agents, looking to earn a roster spot with respective teams this offseason.

Among those players is wide receiver Jaylon Redd, a player who had his career at cut short due to injury last fall, and then went through a battle with pancreatic cancer starting in December.

[lawrence-related id=23796]

Redd is now working to get his career back on track, and will be accepting mini-camp invites to join the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccanneers this offseason. Should either team be impressed with Redd, he could get invited to training camp this summer.

Nine players from the 2021 roster took part in Oregon’s pro day, including six who went to the NFL Combine, and Verone McKinley III, Anthony Brown Jr., Devon Williams, Mykael Wright, CJ Verdell, Johnny Johnson III, George Moore IV and Jordan Happle went undrafted.

Oregon S Verone McKinley signed by Miami as undrafted free agent

Oregon’s Verone McKinley went undrafted, but he quickly signed with Miami and joins Jevon Holland in South Beach.

He didn’t hear his name called during the 2022 NFL Draft, but that doesn’t mean that Verone McKinley III won’t get a chance to prove himself at the next level.

Now that the draft is over, McKinley has been signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent. He will now go through training camp with the Dolphins and work to earn a roster spot going into the fall.

In four seasons with Oregon, McKinley had 11 total interceptions and two forced fumbles. He led the nation with 6 interceptions in the 2021 season, and 172 total tackles in his career with the Ducks.

[jwplayer 6Go4Ut5x]

The Oregon Ducks picked up an in-state commitment in the 2022 recruiting class on Friday afternoon, with Central Catholic’s Zachery Grisham announcing that he will be coming down to Eugene this fall.

Grisham, who is a 3-star DB from the Portland area, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 31 player in the state of Oregon, and the No. 210 athlete in the 2022 class.

At 6-foot-0, 190-pounds, Grisham will add some depth to a secondary that is somewhat depleted after losing guys like Verone McKinley and Mykael Wright this offseason to the NFL draft. On top of that, CB DJ James transferred to Florida State after the 2021 season as well.
