WATCH: Alvin Kamara’s record-breaking TD ends Saints offensive scoring drought

Alvin Kamara put the New Orleans Saints ahead of the New England Patriots by two scores on Sunday with a touchdown run that was big for multiple reasons.

The Saints offense had been without a touchdown since the first quarter of the Week 3 game against the Green Bay Packers, with both the special teams and defensive units scoring touchdowns in the meantime. Finally finding the endzone again could mean big things for the offense’s confidence.

With the touchdown run, Kamara also broke Marques Colston’s franchise touchdown scoring record. Kamara is now up to 73 touchdowns on his career. He has 50 rushing touchdowns, 22 receiving and one kickoff return touchdown from his rookie season. It was his first score of the season as he missed the first three games with suspension, his return to the field has opened up the offense much more.

WATCH: Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu took an interception home for a 26-yard score off of Patriots quarterback Mac Jones

New Orleans Saints safety and hometown hero Tyrann Mathieu puts the first points on the board against the New England Patriots with an interception touchdown. Mac Jones got hit by Carl Granderson on the play which led to the ball floating in the air for Mathieu to grab.

It was the first Saints touchdown since the first half against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. The offense still hasn’t scored since the halfway point of the first quarter against the Packers.

This was Mathieu’s first interception of the season and his fourth in a Saints uniform. It was his first touchdown since Week 2 of the 2021 season and fourth of his career. The Saints defense as a whole needs just one more interception to tie last season’s total (7), and it’ sonly Week 5.

Watch highlights from the Bucs’ blow out win over the Saints

And trust us, there are plenty.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had marked Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints on the calendar — and boy, did they deliver.

The Bucs put a drubbing on the Saints on the road, winning the game 26-9 in a three-possession rout. Tampa Bay didn’t stop once it started, with quarterback Baker Mayfield throwing for three touchdowns on the day and the Bucs defense holding the Saints to under 200 yards and no gain longer than 14 yards. The dagger came in the fourth quarter when Mayfield hit Bucs wideout Deven Thompkins in the end zone to ensure the Saints had a tough bus ride back to Airline Drive.

If you weren’t able to catch the big win, check out the highlights from the contest here below:

Jameis Winston immediately intercepted after going into Saints blowout loss to Bucs

Jameis Winston was immediately intercepted after going into Saints blowout loss to Bucs, putting a fitting pin on the afternoon

This is tough to watch. The New Orleans Saints pulled some starters late in their blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, with Jameis Winston taking over from Derek Carr to close out the game — at least that was the plan. Winston was immediately intercepted on a shot downfield to help seal the 26-9 loss. Defensive back Dee Delaney drove down on an underthrown ball sent to a sliding Chris Olave, which he picked off and returned near midfield.

It was a fitting end to an ugly game, and it kind of brought things full-circle with Winston being Tampa Bay’s old quarterback. But these are who these teams are at this point. The Saints field a weak offense that’s lost more turnovers (5) than scored touchdowns (4). The Buccaneers have a well-coached defense that’s drafted and developed a lot of talented players even far down the depth chart. They deserve just as much credit for winning this game as the Saints deserve criticism for botching it.

WATCH: QB Baker Mayfield hits Cade Otton for a score against the Saints

Check out Baker Mayfield’s touchdown pass to Cade Otton for the first touchdown of the game on Sunday:

The New Orleans Saints may have struck first on Sunday, but the first touchdown of the game went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The score came with just under six minutes to play in the game. On third and goal, Mayfield was hurried by the Saints defensive line and was almost sacked but he managed to flick the ball to tight end Cade Otton who effortlessly waltzed in the end zone. While Otton scored, Mayfield took a huge hit from the Saints defense that drew a roughing-the-passer penalty. Mayfield was briefly looked at by trainers but was fine to continue.

Panthers fans react to Sam Franklin’s record-breaking 99-yard INT return for TD

Panthers fans went bonkers over Sam Franklin’s record-breaking 99-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Carolina Panthers safety Sam Franklin, who made the start in place of an injured Xavier Woods, created some history very early on in Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

On the very first drive of the game, one that was actually propelled by a 45-yard pass interference penalty on the veteran defensive back, Franklin jumped the route of wide receiver K.J. Osborn and picked off quarterback Kirk Cousins. He proceeded to take the takeaway for a 99-yard trip to the end zone, helping give the Panthers a 7-0 lead just five minutes into the contest.

Franklin’s return now stands as the longest in franchise history, breaking the previous record of 97 yards by future Pro Football Hall of Famer and future Hall of Honor inductee Julius Peppers.

Here’s how the Carolina fans over on Twitter reacted to the huge play:

Highlights from New Orleans Saints’ past games with Tampa Bay Buccaneers | @DillySanders

The New Orleans Saints had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers number in recent history, going on an 8-1 stretch against their division opponent before losing twice last season.

With Carr injured, this could be another matchup of Jameis Winston against his old team. The other matchup to watch will be Marshon Lattimore versus Mike Evans which never disappoints.

These teams have created fireworks before. Check out these highlight reels from their matchups during the last three years:

Watch WR Mike Evans’ touchdown grab against the Eagles

Evans’ reception in the back of the end zone was the only touchdown of the night for Tampa Bay.

It was a rough loss for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, but it didn’t come without positives.

One of those positives was the performance of [autotag]Mike Evans[/autotag], who was slow to get going but turned it on when it was just a bit too late. He had a great drive in the fourth quarter, catching two balls for big gains and nabbing a crazy one-handed catch down the middle of the field. When the team got to the red zone, he caught a ball toward the back of the end zone for Tampa Bay’s only touchdown of the night. The Bucs would later convert on the two-point conversion to get their final total of 11 points.

WATCH: Bucs LB Devin White picks off Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

LB Devin White made sure to get his due against the Eagles Monday night.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense is going to get their turnovers.

The Bucs managed to get one off the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. Late into the second quarter, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a pass to the flat that was intended to go to running back D’Andre Swift, but there appeared to be a miscommunication that caused Swift to overrun the route and Bucs linebacker Devin White to come down with the catch. He returned the ball to midfield to set up a potential last offensive drive for Tampa Bay, but unfortunately, the Bucs would fumble the ball on that ensuing possession.
