Harrisburg native, and former Pitt Panthers running back LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy was inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame

In what can only be described as an electric and magical moment, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native and former Pitt Panthers star LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy was inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame and Ring of Honor at halftime of the team’s Week 9 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

McCoy is arguably the most excellent running back in Eagles franchise history, and he’s been honored as such.

Back in July, at halftime of the preseason finale, team owner Jeffrey Lurie announced that the former Pitt Panthers star and second-round pick would be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame on Sunday, November 3, 2024, when the Eagles host the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lincoln Financial Field.

The official announcement was made during a special halftime ceremony this past summer, part of the Eagles Legends Homecoming Game, during which many of the franchise’s greats returned to commemorate their time with the Eagles.

Philadelphia used a second-round pick (53rd overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft on McCoy, and he became the franchise’s all-time leader in rushing yards (6,792 yards). A three-time Pro Bowl back (2011, 2013-14) and two-time All-Pro (2011, 2013) with the Eagles, McCoy recorded the third-most rushing touchdowns in team history (44), and he still holds the franchise record for the most rushing yards in a single season (1,607 yards in 2013).

McCoy set the team’s single-game rushing record with 217 yards during the iconic “Snow Bowl” in 2013, which became the standout running back’s signature performance.

Jalen Hurts reacts to the benchings of young QBs; Lack of patience around NFL

Jalen Hurts reacts to the benchings of young quarterbacks; Lack of patience around NFL

Jalen Hurts was drafted in 2020 to be a backup quarterback in the NFL. Still, after his improvement and Carson Wentz’s benching, the former Oklahoma signal-caller has developed into one of the best in the league.

After an Eagles practice, Hurts recently shared his thoughts on the frequent benching of young quarterbacks (Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young) in the NFL and teams’ overall impatience with their development. He emphasized that the transition to the league can be incredibly challenging, with a steep learning curve that not all QBs can navigate immediately.

“I wasn’t supposed to be the guy I am today Hurts said via Zach Berman. Nobody expected that. But took advantage of my opportunity, and that’s what I encourage everyone to do regardless. I have a ton of respect for Tom Brady. And you hear him talk a lot of times, taking advantage of your moment. Typically there’s a different leash there, the earlier you’re picked. But nonetheless, nothing’s guaranteed and nothing’s promised. But you have to take advantage of every opportunity that comes.

“And sometimes, adversity builds the appropriate callouses for you to be able to forge a new path and withstand different storms that come your way.”

Over his first two seasons, Hurts had a 59% completion percentage with 4,063 yards passing, 21 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 1,056 rushing yards, and a Super Bowl appearance.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Hurts completed 65.4 percent of his passes for 3,858 yards and a career-high 23 touchdowns in 17 regular season games last season. He also added 15 rushing touchdowns, setting a new NFL record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a single season, matching Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Eagles owner, Saquon Barkley spent off day playing golf with former President Obama

Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts played a round off golf with President Barack Obama

The Eagles are feeling good again after winning three straight games. As the team prepares for a Week 9 matchup against the Jaguars on Sunday, Philadelphia’s owner and two superstars spent time with a former President.

According to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, star quarterback Jalen Hurts, and star running back Saquon Barkley played a round of golf with Barack Obama at a local course.

Obama and legendary singer Bruce Springsteen appeared in Philadelphia at a “When We Vote We Win” concert as Vice President Kamala Harris campaigned in Michigan.

Barkley took up golf this off-season, while Hurts slowly intricated himself into the game despite Lurie jokingly telling his quarterback to avoid playing the sport in hopes of preventing injury.

WATCH: Humble Saquon Barkley eloquently explains why he passed up career-high rushing yards

A Humble Saquon Barkley eloquently explains to the Pivot Podcast why he passed up setting his career-high for Kenneth Gainwell and Will Shipley to eat

Saquon Barkley sent his former team a loud, resounding message last Sunday.

During his first return to MetLife Stadium as an Eagles player, Barkley logged 17 carries for 176 yards (10.4 avg) and one touchdown on the afternoon.

Philadelphia dominated the New York Giants, ending with a 28-3 win.

Early in the fourth quarter, a mic-up Barkley can be seen conversing with Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni. Rather than return to the game, an unselfish Barkley told Sirianni to let the young guys eat.

This week, Barkley sat down with Ryan Clark and the Pivot Podcast, where he eloquently broke down why he decided to let his Eagles teammates “eat.”

Barkley finished 14 yards shy of his career-high rushing yards in a game and placed himself firmly back into the race for the NFL rushing title and the league’s Offensive Player of the Year award.

Saquon Barkley said all the right things about Week 7 at MetLife Stadium being just another game. Still, his performance said otherwise, and the star running back sent his former team a loud, resounding message on the field and through the microphone.

Philadelphia dominated the New York Giants on Sunday, winning 28-3. Barkley was mic’d up and spent the entire time trash-talking his former Giants teammates.

During his return to MetLife Stadium as an Eagles player, Barkley logged 17 carries for 176 yards (10.4 avg) and one touchdown on the afternoon.  Barkley finished 14 yards shy of his career-high yards in a game and placed himself firmly back into the race for the NFL rushing title and the league’s Offensive Player of the Year award.

Barkley is one of five NFL players with 5,000+ rushing yards (5,211) and 2,000+ receiving yards (2,100) since 2018, joining Ezekiel Elliott, Aaron Jones, Alvin Kamara, and Christian McCaffrey, and he’s made Philadelphia one of the most explosive teams in the NFL.

Former Eagles LB Haason Reddick hires Drew Rosenhaus as agent amid holdout with Jets

Former Eagles LB Haason Reddick hires Drew Rosenhaus as agent amid holdout with Jets

Only Haason Reddick knows why he’s deciding to pass a million in salary for a holdout based on principles after being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New York Jets.

Reddick was shipped to the AFC East during the off-season and never reported after his introductory press conference. He held out for a new contract amid accusations that Joe Douglas and company reneged on an extension.

Reddick’s representatives, CAA reportedly had a restructured contract set with the Jets before the star pass rusher declined to report.   With that news, CAA parted ways with Reddick.

Now the pass rusher has hired the legendary, Drew Rosenhaus.

Thanks to his contract structure, Reddick has forfeited nearly $800,000 per game, totaling over $4 million in salary for no apparent reason. Since the start of Jets training camp, he has accumulated over $5 million in NFL-mandated fines that can’t be rescinded.

Last season, Reddick finished 15th in the league with 11 sacks and made his second straight Pro Bowl.

He recorded double-digit sacks for the fourth consecutive season, leading his team in that category and tying for 15th in the NFL. Outside of the sacks, though, Reddick’s numbers were poor by his standards.

His 38 tackles were the second-lowest mark of his career, and he didn’t force or recover a fumble after forcing five and recovering three last season.

Haason Reddick has racked up close to $9 million in fines and his agency CAA has parted ways with the former Eagles pass rusher

On Thursday, Adam Schefter reported that Reddick’s agents and representation, Creative Arts Agency (CAA), have severed ties with the linebacker.

Creative Artists Agency is the premiere sports agency based in Los Angeles, California, and home to some of the world’s top athletes and entertainers.

Last season, Reddick finished 15th in the league with 11 sacks and made his second straight Pro Bowl.

Nick Sirianni among two coaches remaining from 2021 hiring cycle after Jets fire Robert Saleh

Nick Sirianni and Dan Campbell are among the final two coaches remaining from 2021 hiring cycle after Jets fire Robert Saleh

After being named the Eagles head coach, Nick Sirianni was laughed at and mocked following his introductory press conference. Still, he’s one of the last survivors from the 2021 coaching cycle after the Jets fired Robert Saleh on Tuesday morning.

Adam Schefter reported that defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will be the interim head coach.

With the move, only Sirianni and the Lions’ Dan Campbell remain as coaching hires from four years ago.

According to ESPN Research, Saleh is now the third head coach fired after losing a game in London. The Raiders fired coach Dennis Allen in 2014 the day after they lost 38-14 to the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium, while the Dolphins fired coach Joe Philbin in 2015 the day after they lost 27-14 to the Jets at Wembley. Saleh’s firing comes two days after the Jets lost 23-17 to the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Saleh was 20-36 in parts of three seasons as the Jets head coach, including 2-3 in 2024.

Sirianni is 36-19 as Eagles head coach. The team has made three straight playoff appearances, including a Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs in 2022.

Campbell has amassed an even 27-27-1 record in Detroit despite starting 4-19-1 through his first 24 games. He’s delivered the team’s first division title in 30 years and two playoff wins—double the number the franchise had had in the previous 60 years.

Even Jets QB Aaron Rodgers was relieved he made it through Week 1

Even #Jets QB Aaron Rodgers was relieved he made it through Week 1:

The New York Jets had few positive headlines to write about following their season-opening 32-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The game wasn’t even that close.

After the contest, the fact that quarterback Aaron Rodgers was still a healthy player on the Jets (0-1) and will face the Tennessee Titans (0-1) in Week 2 was viewed as one of those plusses.

To some, it might have seemed like a bit of a tongue-and-cheek thought. That’s not the case for Rodgers himself.

During his first weekly appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers noted how even he was thankful for that after his first year with Gang Green only lasted four snaps.

“To be healthy is a really special blessing, I don’t take it for granted,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers did get pulled from the contest with four minutes left as New York waved the white flag… but he’s still healthy. That’s the important bit with a lot of season to go.
