First Look At Idaho Bowl Between Nevada and Ohio
The Nevada Wolf Pack will be bowling once again as they will face the Ohio Bobcats in the 2019 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
This bowl contest between the Wolf Pack and the Bobcats will be played at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho on January 3rd. The game will be televised on ESPN and will have a kickoff time of 12:30pm kickoff time.
For Nevada, this is their second straight bowl appearance in three years and their third bowl in five years. The Wolf Pack are currently on a two-game bowl winning streak heading into this Idaho Potato Bowl contest. Nevada won the 2015 Arizona Bowl by defeating Colorado State 28-23 and the 2018 Arizona Bowl by defeating Arkansas State in overtime 16-13.
This is Nevada’s third trip to Boise, Idaho to play in a bowl game. In 2006, when the Potato Bowl was called the MPC Computers Bowl, Nevada lost 21-20 to the University of Miami. The Wolf Pack returned to Boise in 2008 when the Potato Bowl was then called the Humanitarian Bowl. In that contest, the Wolf Pack lost to Maryland 42-35. In this upcoming trip to Boise for the Potato Bowl, the Wolf Pack are looking for a winning outcome.
The Wolf Pack are taking on an Ohio Bobcats team out of the Mid-American conference that finished with a 6-6 overall record and a 5-3 conference record. The Bobcats key player to watch for is their quarterback Nathan Rourke. Rourke has thrown for 2,676 yards and 20 touchdowns this season for Ohio. Rourke is also a threat to run the ball as well as he has ran for 780 yards and scored 12 rushing touchdowns.
The combination of Rourke and running backs O’Shaan Allison(823 rushing yards, six touchdowns) and De’Montre Tuggle ( 547 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns) make a formidable rushing attack for Ohio. This rushing attack is going to present Nevada with the challenge of trying to slow down in order for the Wolf Pack to win its third straight bowl game.
This is Nevada’s 14th bowl game since moving up from Division I/FBS back in 1991 and overall the Wolf Pack have played in 16 bowl games winning six of them. Nevada is looking to win their seventh bowl game in program history on January 3rd in Boise, Idaho.
