Doug Pederson confirms that versatile safety Will Parks is ‘healthy’ and ready to go

Will Parks healthy and ready to go for the Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have a Nate Gerry problem in their pass defense and the answer could be making his Philadelphia debut against the Ravens. Doug Pederson confirmed that versatile safety, Will Parks is healthy and ready to go.

Gerry has struggled in pass coverage through five games and Parks’ ability to line up at the linebacker position in the nickel or dime defense could ease some of the difficulties in pass coverage.

Parks had his 21-day practice window opened recently and his versatility was coveted by the Eagles who can play him in the slot, in the box, or at deep safety.

Doug Pederson on whether the Eagles will pursue RB Le’Veon Bell; His comfort with the Eagles RB’s

Doug Pederson told the media that the Eagles like their running backs when asked about adding Le’Veon Bell to the mix

The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the NFL’s top young running back in Miles Sanders and one of the league’s other top ball carriers is set to be on the open market after the New York Jets decided to move on from Le’Veon Bell.

On Wednesday, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson addressed the idea of adding Bell to the roster and he made it clear that Miles Sanders is the guy, and he likes his running back room.

Pederson’s comments come on the heels of Sanders only having a handful of carries at the end of both the win at San Francisco and Sunday’s loss to the Steelers. In Pittsburgh, Sanders broke off a 74-yard touchdown run, but then only had three more carries and 12 total yards, finishing with 88 yards rushing.

If Sanders is indeed the guy, the Eagles have to do a better job of getting their young star involved when it matters most.

Eagles protect 2 practice squad players in advance of Week 6 matchup vs. the Ravens

Eagles protect practice squad players Jason Croom, Elijah Riley for Week 6

The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they’ve only protected two practice squad players in advance of Sunday’s huge game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Last week against the Steelers, the Eagles alled up both players from the practice squad and placed them on the active roster. Croom played two snaps on offense and seven on special teams in his Eagles debut, while Riley played 14 snaps on special teams in his NFL debut.

5 reasons why the Eagles should roll with the young guys until after the Week 9 bye

With Lane Johnson, DeSean Jackson, and Alshon Jeffery dealing with injuries, the Eagles should play their young guys for the next four weeks.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been snake-bitten by soft tissue injuries again this season, but unlike the 2019 campaign, the NFC East provides the Birds with an opportune time to get healthy, while getting their young guys some much needed playing time against big-time competition.

On Tuesday, NFL.com’s Mike Garafalo reported that Lane Johnson’s second opinion on his ankle provided the Eagles with no real-time solution except rest and rehabilitation.

The Eagles currently have on injured reserve or out, Andre Dillard, T.J. Edwards, Rudy Ford, Dallas Goedert, Josh Perkins, Jason Peters, Isaac Seumalo, and Trevor Williams all out for an extended period of time.

With the news about Johnson and the Eagles unsure about the status of Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson, we’ve provided 5 reasons for why Philadelphia should continue with the makeshift lineup until after the Week 9 bye.

1. Things can’t get any worse

It’s not funny, but with the Eagles missing the majority of their lineup since Week 1, continuing with the status quo won’t hurt and it could end up benefiting the Eagles in the long run.    The Eagles have made critical mistakes with veterans on the field if this truly is a rebuild, there’s no better time than now to start.

Johnson left Sunday’s game at the Pittsburgh Steelers with an ankle injury after being carted off late in the second half.

Johnson had been replaced at right tackle by rookie Jack Driscoll and after the loss, Doug Pederson confirmed that his star would get a second opinion. According to Mike Garafalo, Johnson may be forced to play through the injury.

Driscoll started Week 1 at Washington when Johnson did not play and could be a viable option going forward.
