BC Lions at Winnipeg Blue Bombers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s BC Lions at Winnipeg Blue Bombers Week 9 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The BC Lions (6-1) and Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5-2) meet Thursday at IG Field to open up Week 9 CFL action. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Lions vs. Blue Bombers odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Lions covered the spread as 7-point favorites with a 27-0 win at the Edmonton Elks Saturday. QB Dane Evans started in place of QB Vernon Adams Jr. (knee) and went 25-of-32 passing for 330 yards and 2 TDs. Evans is expected to be the starter again Thursday.

The Blue Bombers failed to cover as 15-point home favorites in a 28-14 win vs. the Elks on July 20 before their Week 8 bye. Winnipeg has failed to cover in back-to-back games for the 1st time since a 3-game skid last season from Week 10-13.

In the 1st meeting this season between these teams, the Lions won 30-6 as 6-point road underdogs on June 22 as the Under 49 cashed.

Lions at Blue Bombers picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Bombers 24, Lions 14

Moneyline

Winnipeg (-275) should get revenge after losing the 1st meeting this season, but there’s no need to pay the higher price on the moneyline when the Blue Bombers should win by margin.

PASS. Lay the points and/or bet the total instead.

Against the spread

The Blue Bombers are 5-1 ATS vs. the Lions when Winnipeg QB Zach Collaros plays. Winnipeg has also been amongst the better bounce-back teams in the CFL and has covered in 5 of its last 6 games after failing to cover in its previous contest (including last year’s regular season and playoffs). The Blue Bombers are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games and should put up a much better performance than what we saw from them in the 1st meeting this season.

BET BLUE BOMBERS -6 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under has hit in back-to-back games for the Lions and is 4-1 in the Blue Bombers’ last 5.

The Under has also hit in the last 3 meetings between these teams and should cash again Thursday in this pivotal game between the 2 best teams in the West.

BET UNDER 44.5 (-110).

BC Lions at Edmonton Elks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s BC Lions at Edmonton Elks odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The BC Lions (5-1) and Edmonton Elks (0-7) meet Saturday in a Week 8 matchup at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Lions vs. Elks odds and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Lions have picked up 2 straight victories since their lone loss in Week 4 at Toronto. Not only has BC won 5 games in 6 tries this season, the Lions have a healthy 4-1 record against the spread (ATS). The defense has allowed 19 or fewer points this season, cashing the Under in 4 of the outings.

The Elks suffered a 22-0 loss in Vancouver back in Week 2, as the Lions covered as 7-point favorites with the Under (46) connecting. Edmonton is winless in 7 tries, although it has covered 2 of the past 3 outings after an 0-4 ATS start. The Under has cashed in 3 of the past 4, and 5 of 7 games overall.

Lions at Elks picks and  predictions

Prediction

BC Lions 25, Elks 13

Moneyline

The Lions (-375) will cost you nearly 4 times your potential return, and that’s quite risky for not much reward. In addition, Adams Jr. is a question mark to play. While QB Dane Evans is more than capable of handling the reins, whomever is under center will have to deal with the absence of Rhymes, who has 18 receptions for 285 yards and 5 receiving scores, which is half of the team’s total TD grabs.

PASS.

Against the spread

BC LIONS -7.5 (-110) is worth playing lightly.

The questionable status for Adams is a concern, and the absence of Rhymes is a problem, too. But Edmonton +7.5 (-110) has been horrific this season, and it simply cannot be trusted, especially against a team it suffered a shutout against in Week 2.

Over/Under

UNDER 43.5 (-115) is worth a look.

Edmonton has been terrible this season, averaging just 15.0 points per game (PPG), while ranking dead-last in the CFL with just 320.3 total yards per game, too.

The Lions struggled in their Week 2 matchup against Edmonton, mustering just 22 points. However, the defense didn’t allow a single point. Expect another lower-scoring game in the rematch.

Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Toronto Argonauts odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Toronto Argonauts Week 8 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-3) and Toronto Argonauts (5-0) meet Saturday at Huskies Stadium in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Roughriders vs. Argonauts odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Roughriders pushed as 10-point underdogs in a 19-9 loss at the BC Lions last Saturday. QB Mason Fine went 32-of-41 passing for 284 yards and 2 INTs in his 1st start of the season. Saskatchewan is 2-0-1 against the spread (ATS) away from home.

The Argonauts improved to 5-0 ATS after covering as 10.5-point favorites with a 31-15 win at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on July 21. Toronto is winning games by an average margin of 15.0 points this season.

Roughriders vs. Argonauts picks and predictions

Prediction

Argonauts 21, Roughriders 15

Moneyline

The Argonauts (-500) should stay undefeated, but they’re being slightly overvalued on a neutral field.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or the total instead.

Against the spread

The Roughriders have been playing above expectations away from home and should continue to do so Saturday in Halifax. Saskatchewan has allowed fewer than 20 points in 2 of its last 3 contests and should be able to cover this number in a low-scoring game.

BET ROUGHRIDERS +10.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under is 7-3-1 in Saskatchewan’s last 11 games vs. teams with a winning record.

The Argonauts are averaging 37.2 points per game this season, but 2 of those games were vs. the injury-riddled Tiger-Cats and 1 was against the winless Edmonton Elks. Look for Toronto’s offense to come back down to Earth Saturday vs. this underrated Saskatchewan defense.

BET UNDER 47.5 (-110).

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Ottawa Redblacks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Ottawa Redblacks Week 8 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-4) and Ottawa Redblacks (3-3) meet Friday at TD Place Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (CFL+/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Tiger-Cats vs. Redblacks odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Tiger-Cats failed to cover the spread as 10.5-point home underdogs with a 31-15 loss vs. the Toronto Argonauts last Friday. QB Bo Levi Mitchell (hip) will return Friday after missing the last 4 games.

The Redblacks covered as 4.5-point underdogs in a 43-41 overtime win at the Calgary Stampeders Sunday. Since QB Dustin Crum has become the starter, Ottawa is 2-0 straight up and against the spread.

In the 1st meeting this season between these teams, the Tiger-Cats won 21-13 as 1.5-point home underdogs July 8.

Tiger-Cats at Redblacks picks and predictions

Prediction

Tiger-Cats 23, Redblacks 21

Moneyline

The Tiger-Cats have won 2 of their last 3 games and Mitchell’s return should give them the boost needed to bounce back after getting blown out last time out.

The Redblacks are on a short week and are coming off back-to-back overtime wins. While Ottawa is 2-0 in Crum’s starts, it may be fatigued having to play its 3rd game in 14 days.

BET TIGER-CATS (+105).

Against the spread

Hamilton +1.5 (-110) should cover, but there’s no need to pay the higher price on the spread when the Tiger-Cats should beat the Redblacks straight up for the 9th straight time.

PASS. Bet the moneyline and/or the total instead.

Over/Under

The Under is 4-1 in Hamilton’s last 5 games after failing to cover in its previous contest. The Under has also hit in 6 of the last 8 meetings between these teams and should cash again Friday as Ottawa’s offense comes back down to Earth.

BET UNDER 49.5 (-110).

Ottawa RedBlacks at Calgary Stampeders odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Ottawa RedBlacks at Calgary Stampeders odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Ottawa RedBlacks (2-3) and the Calgary Stampeders (2-3) meet Sunday in a Week 7 matchup at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the RedBlacks vs. Stampeders odds and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The RedBlacks picked up an impressive 31-28 win in overtime in Week 6 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. However, Ottawa hasn’t had success on the road, going 0-2 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS). The Under is 4-0 in 4 games decided in regulation, with Ottawa’s lone Over result in OT last week.

The Stampeders took care of the RedBlacks in Canada’s capital city in Week 2, winning 26-15 to cover as 6.5-point favorites as the Under (43) cashed. Calgary lost and failed to cover the next 2 games before outlasting Saskatchewan in Regina by a 33-31 score last weekend.

RedBlacks at Stampeders picks and  predictions

Prediction

Stampeders 25, RedBlacks 18

Moneyline

Calgary (-200) will cost you 2 times your potential return. That’s quite a bit expensive, even with Calgary playing on its home field against a team it already beat on the road in Week 2.

PASS, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

CALGARY -4.5 (-110) is a strong play at home.

It won by 11 points on the road against Ottawa +4.5 (-110) in Week 2, and it is coming off an impressive offensive showing in Regina against the Roughriders last weekend. The offense has produced 26 or more points in 3 of the last 4 games, including the win over the RedBlacks.

Ottawa +4.5 (-110) is just too banged up to trust, especially in a road game against a team it has already lost against.

Over/Under

UNDER 44.5 (-110) is the lean, ever so slightly.

We saw these teams combine for just 41 points and an Under (43) result in Week 2. While Ottawa was impressive last week, posting 31 points of offense, the Under is still 4-1 overall for the RedBlacks.

The Under is 3-2 for Calgary this season, too, including 1-1 at McMahon Stadium.

Analyzing Saturday’s Saskatchewan Roughriders at BC Lions Week 7 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Roughriders had their 2-game winning streak snapped with a close 33-31 home loss to Calgary. They were 1-point underdogs and the Over (43.5) hit in the game.

The Lions bounced back from their first loss of the year with a 35-19 home win over Montreal on July 9. They covered the 7.5-point spread as favorites and the Over (45.5) cashed in. It was the 4th time this season they held an opponent under 20 points.

Roughriders at Lions picks and predictions

Prediction

Lions 31, Roughriders 19

Moneyline

The Roughriders will be riding without their starting quarterback for a few weeks. That will be a challenge, especially against a BC defense that has allowed fewer than 20 points in 4 of 5 games. They won all 4 of those games.

But there is no reason to make a moneyline bet at -450 for a regular season game.

PASS.

Against the spread

Three of the Lions’ 4 wins were by more than 10 points. The other was by exactly 10 points.

The Roughriders are 2-3 ATS but have failed to cover the spread in 3 of their last 4 games.

BET LIONS -10.5 (+100).

Over/Under

The Under was 3-0 in the Lions’ first 3 games, but the Over has hit in each of their last 2 games. They have scored 30 or more in 2 of their last 3 games.

The Roughriders gave up 33 in their last game.

Toronto Argonauts at Hamilton Tiger-Cats odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Toronto Argonauts at Hamilton Tiger-Cats Week 7 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Argonauts (4-0) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-3) meet Friday at Tim Hortons Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (CFL+/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Argonauts vs. Tiger-Cats odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Argonauts improved to 4-0 against the spread (ATS) after covering as 6-point favorites with a 35-27 win at the Montreal Alouettes last Friday. Pro Football Focus gave QB Chad Kelly a grade of 93.4, the highest single-game grade by any player this season, after going 21-of-25 passing with 351 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT.

The Tiger-Cats covered as 1-point underdogs with a 37-29 win at the Edmonton Elks July 13. Hamilton opened as a 2.5-point favorite at most books, before the line eventually moved toward Edmonton.

It was announced Tuesday that Tiger-Cats backup QB Matthew Shiltz (hip) will join 1st-string QB Bo Levi Mitchell (lower-body injury) on the 6-game injured list. QB Taylor Powell will make his 1st start in the CFL Friday.

In the 1st meeting this season between these teams, Toronto won 32-14 as a 2.5-point home underdog June 18. The Argonauts have won and covered vs. Hamilton in each of the last 3 meetings.

The Argonauts have picked up right where they left off after winning the 109th Grey Cup last season. Toronto is undefeated ATS and Kelly has looked like a top-4 QB in the CFL this season.

While the Tiger-Cats have looked better in their last 2 games, they have struggled vs. the Argonauts in the last 3 meetings. To make matters worse, Hamilton will be rolling out Powell in his 1st CFL start vs. an Argonauts defense that leads the league with 13 takeaways.

While I do believe Toronto will cover this number, I liked it a lot more when the Argonauts were just 7-point favorites up until Thursday morning.

LEAN ARGONAUTS -9.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Toronto leads the CFL with 17 TDs and the Over has hit in each of its last 3 games.

Hamilton’s opponents have scored an average of 30.8 points per game this season and the Tiger-Cats should struggle to contain 1 of the best offenses in the league in the Argonauts.

While I don’t expect the Tiger-Cats to match pace with the Argonauts, Toronto should be able to do most of the heavy lifting offensively to help the Over hit Friday.

BET OVER 50.5 (-110).

Edmonton Elks at Winnipeg Blue Bombers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Edmonton Elks at Winnipeg Blue Bombers Week 7 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The winless Edmonton Elks (0-6) visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (4-2) Thursday to open Week 7 of the CFL season. Kickoff from IG Field is at 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Elks vs. Blue Bombers odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

Edmonton fell 37-29 to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last Thursday as it failed to cover as a 1-point home favorite while the Over (42.5) cashed. The Elks have lost 10 straight games dating back to last season, but their 29 points were an improvement over a combined 18 points they had scored over their previous 2 games.

The Blue Bombers had a 2-game win streak snapped Saturday with a 31-28 overtime road loss to the Ottawa Redblacks. Winnipeg lost that one outright as a 10-point favorite as the Over (44.5) connected.

Elks at Blue Bombers picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Bombers 25, Elks 16

Moneyline

The Elks will potentially give someone a huge payout with an upset win but you just can’t count on that. Edmonton has lost 10 consecutive games dating back to last season and has been held to 13 or fewer points in 4 of its 6 games this season.

The Blue Bombers (-900) have twice won 2 games and lost 1. While a win is likely on the horizon, you should definitely AVOID them on the moneyline as there is no reason to wager 9 times your potential return on a regular season CFL game.

Against the spread

The Elks are 1-5 ATS this season. The Blue Bombers are 4-2 ATS, covering the spread in each of their 4 wins. However, they have only beaten one team by more than 14 points.

Only 2 of the Elks’ 6 losses have been by more than 14 points.

BET ELKS +14.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The Over has hit only twice for the Elks so far this season, and they scored just 18 total points in Weeks 4 and 5.

The Blue Bombers started the season scoring 45 and 42 points but have averaged 18.8 points in their last 4 games.

BET UNDER 46.5 (-110).

Calgary Stampeders at Saskatchewan Roughriders odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Calgary Stampeders at Saskatchewan Roughriders Week 6 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Calgary Stampeders (1-3) and Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-1) meet Saturday at Mosaic Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stampeders vs. Roughriders odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Stampeders failed to cover the spread as 8-point underdogs in a 24-11 loss at the Winnipeg Blue Bombers July 7. Calgary is 1-3 against the spread (ATS) this season and has failed to cover in back-to-back games.

The Roughriders failed to cover as 7-point home favorites in a 12-11 win vs. the Edmonton Elks July 6. Saskatchewan scored 9 points in the final 66 seconds of the game, taking the lead when Elks WR C.J. Sims mistakenly downed the ball in the end zone for a rouge instead of returning it.

Stampeders at Roughriders picks and predictions

Prediction

Stampeders 20, Roughriders 16

Moneyline

The Stampeders got off to an impressive start at the Blue Bombers last time out, even holding a 10-point 2nd-quarter lead before collapsing in the final 30 minutes. Calgary should bounce back from that 2nd-half performance and take advantage of this Roughriders team that was lucky to even get a victory in regulation vs. the winless Elks.

BET STAMPEDERS (+105).

Against the spread

Calgary is 11-2-1 ATS in its last 14 games after failing to cover in its previous contest. Stampeders +1.5 (-110) should hit, but there’s no need to pay the higher price on the spread when Calgary should win straight up.

PASS on taking the points. Bet the ML and/or the total instead.

Over/Under

The Under is 4-0 in Calgary’s last 4 games vs. teams with a winning record and 7-1 in its last 8 after a loss.

The Under has gone 25-10-1 in Saskatchewan’s last 36 games after a win and should hit again Saturday as the Roughriders continue to struggle on offense after a lucky victory last time out.

BET UNDER 44.5 (-110).

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Ottawa Redblacks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Ottawa Redblacks Week 6 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (4-1) and Ottawa Redblacks (1-3) meet Saturday at TD Place Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET (CFL+/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Blue Bombers vs. Redblacks odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Blue Bombers covered the spread as 8-point home favorites with a 24-11 win vs. the Calgary Stampeders on July 7. Winnipeg’s 4 wins this season have been by an average margin of 14 points.

The Redblacks failed to cover as 1.5-point favorites in a 21-13 loss at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last Saturday. Ottawa QB Jeremiah Masoli (Achilles) was forced to leave in his season debut and will be out for the year.

Redblacks backup QB Tyrie Adams (ACL) is also out for the season after getting injured Week 4 in a 26-7 win at home vs. the Edmonton Elks on June 30. Rookie QB Dustin Crum will make his 1st career start Saturday for Ottawa.

Blue Bombers at Redblacks picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Bombers 24, Redblacks 9

Moneyline

Winnipeg (-400) should beat Ottawa for the 6th straight time, but there’s no need to pay the higher price on the ML when the Blue Bombers should win by margin.

PASS on the ML. Bet the spread and/or the total instead.

Against the spread

Ottawa has had horrible luck with QB injuries the last 2 games. It’s hard to imagine that Crum will have much success vs. this Blue Bombers defense, especially since it has allowed just a total of 14 points over the last 2 games.

Winnipeg has been dominant all season, with the exception of a bizarre 30-6 loss as a 6-point home favorite vs. the BC Lions on June 22. The Blue Bombers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games vs. teams with a losing record and should continue to beat up on inferior competition Saturday vs. the 1-3 Redblacks.

BET BLUE BOMBERS -9.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Winnipeg has allowed less than 12 points in back-to-contests and Ottawa has scored more than 15 points just once this season. The Under is 3-0 in the Blue Bombers’ last 3 games and 5-0 in the Redblacks’ last 5.

BET UNDER 44.5 (-110).
