Cardinals inactives: KeeSean Johnson out, Damiere Byrd in for Cardinals vs. Rams

All seven inactive players are healthy for the Cardinals. David Johnson, Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds are all active together for the first time.

The Arizona Cardinals released their list of inactive players for their Week 13 battle with the Los Angeles Rams. As expected, they had every player available as none are hurt. All seven inactives are healthy scratches.

Quarterback Kyler Murray and defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard, both of whom were questionable for the game, are active and will start.

Here is the full list:

  • WR KeeSean Johnson
  • RB Zach Zenner
  • CB Chris Jones
  • LB Pete Robertson
  • OL Lamont Gaillard
  • OL Joshua Miles
  • DL Michael Dogbe

Receiver Damiere Byrd is active for the first time in three games. Robertson being inactive is interesting because that leaves only three outside linebackers to play.

With Bullard returning to the lineup, Dogbe is left inactive.

Max Garcia and Mason Cole will be the offensive linemen off the bench this week.

Running backs David Johnson, Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds are all active together for the first time this season.

Cardinals milestones in reach in Week 13 vs. Rams

Check out what Kyler Murray and others can accomplish against the Rams.

The Arizona Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Rams Sunday afternoon and during the game there are some individual achievements that some players can reach.

Check out what these players can reach.

Larry Fitzgerald

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Fitzgerald could have his 50th career 100-yard regular season game with at least 100 receiving yards. If he has at least 36 receiving yards against the Rams, he will pass Andre Johnson for the second-most receiving yards in NFL history at any one stadium. Jerry Rice has the record with 9,403 yards and Candlestick Park. Andre Johnson had 7,776 at NRG Stadium.

Cardinals vs. Rams ultimate Week 13 preview

The Los Angeles Rams will take on the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday as the Cards look to start the end of the season strong. Can Kyler Murray lead the team to their first victory since October?

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals aren’t in playoff contention anymore, although they are not technically eliminated from the playoff race. Despite this, the overall mood of the locker room feels optimistic. The surrounding view of the team is far different than it was at this time last year. While a victory Sunday can’t propel them into the postseason, they can play spoiler to a dreaded division rival.

Recent history hasn’t been kind to fans in the desert when facing the Rams.  Los Angeles has dominated the Arizona Cardinals the past two years, outscoring them 130-25. That number includes two shutouts. For four games, Arizona had zero answers for the Sean McVay-Wade Phillips coaching combination.

This 2019 Cardinals team looks to be a lot different than the ones the Rams have played recently. Their record shows that of a ball club featuring a rookie head coach and quarterback, but the box scores show a team that has gone toe-to-toe with some of the league’s best.

This year’s Rams have had a fall from grace after nearly defeating the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. They’re 6-5 and have sputtered out of control following a strong start to the season. Jared Goff has only eleven touchdown passes compared to twelve interceptions. They’ll be coming into Glendale on a short week following a 6-45 massacre at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens.

The Cardinals very nearly beat that same Ravens team in week two of the season, falling 17-23 after a beautiful pass from Lamar Jackson to Hollywood Brown on 3rd down and 13. That game looks more and more impressive for the Cards as the season moves along, as the Ravens are looking like the AFC favorite for the Super Bowl.

The Cardinals are refreshed after their bye week. In fact, it’s possible all 53 players on the active roster will be healthy this Sunday. Can they start the end of the season strong, or will they come out rusty and unprepared?

Continue on for our game preview of the Rams.

Kyler Murray to start at QB for Cardinals vs. Rams despite hamstring injury

Murray was listed on the final injury report of the week but did not miss any practice time.

[jwplayer xr2BPSUF-ThvAeFxT]

The Arizona Cardinals listed quarterback Kyler Murray on the final injury report of the week for Week 13 with a hamstring injury. Officially, he is questionable for the game at home against the Los Angeles Rams.

However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Murray will start for the Cardinals.

The hamstring injury was not enough to cause him to miss any practice time. He was a full participant in practice on Friday. The Cardinals, who only have Murray and Brett Hundley on the roster at the position, did not add a third quarterback to the 53-man roster, so it was evident the injury was not a huge concern.

Murray has started every game this season as a rookie and has played all but three of the team’s offensive snaps this season.

Murray has completed 64.6% of his passes this season for 2,703 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 418 yards and three touchdowns.

‘Madden’ sim: Cardinals fall to Rams 23-20

The Cardinals suffer another close loss in a simulation of the Week 13 NFC West showdown.

[jwplayer qJEDgI29-ThvAeFxT]

The Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams play a real football game on Sunday. The game will be decided by the play on the field. What might happen in the game?

In a simulation of the game on Madden NFL 20 to see what artificial intelligence says will happen, the Cardinals lose another close game, falling 23-20 to the rival Rams.

The Cardinals score first and take a 7-0 lead and also lead 10-7, but the Rams score 13 straight points to make it 20-10 and again 23-13 in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals rally to make it 23-20 but run out of time.

Todd Gurley dominates in the running game, rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown in 29 carries. He fumbles once. Quarterback Jared Goff goes 14-for-25 for only 200 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Brandin Cooks leads the Rams with three catches for 70 yards and the lone receiving touchdown.

The Cardinals struggle to run the ball. David Johnson finishes with 32 yards on nine carries, while Kenyan Drake has 23 yards on seven attempts and scores a touchdown.

Kyler Murray completes 23-of-34 passes for 216 yards, one score and an interception. Christian Kirk catches eight passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. Murray is sacked twice by Clay Matthews, while Terrell Suggs has the only sack for Arizona.

5 matchups to watch in Cardinals vs. Rams

How do the Cardinals stack up against the Rams in these important individual matchups?

The Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles play each other on Sunday. It is a big game for both teams. The Cardinals want to finish the season strong after their bye week and end their four-game losing streak, while the Rams want to stay relevant in the playoff race and stay over .500.

Which matchups in the game are worth watching?

Rams DT Aaron Donald vs. Cardinals LG Justin Pugh

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Donald is the difference-maker on the Rams defense. Pugh is having a fine season at guard. Donald is not having the other-worldly season he had last year but still leads the team with eight sacks. Pugh will have to hold his own to contain Donald and get the running game started.

Behind enemy lines: Cardinals vs. Rams Q&A preview

Rams Wire’s Cameron DaSilva gives us some info about the Cardinals’ next opponent.

The Arizona Cardinals face the Los Angeles Rams at home this weekend. It is the first time they have faced each other this season, but the first of two meetings in December.

To find out more about the Rams and their season, Rams Wire managing editor Cameron DaSilva answered some questions for us.

Here is what he had to say.

6-5 isn’t bad, but it is nothing near what expectations were entering the season? Can you pinpoint what has gone wrong for the Rams?

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

There have been some situations that they couldn’t control – like losing three offensive linemen to multi-week injuries, as well as John Johnson and Aqib Talib to IR – but the Rams have simply underperformed as a whole. Todd Gurley isn’t the player he was a year ago, Jared Goff has regressed and the offensive line has been a mess. The defense had been playing well, but it was a disaster against the Ravens. There’s just been no consistency on either side of the ball and it’s resulted in an up-and-down season, as evidenced by their 6-5 record.

Dueling picks for Cardinals vs. Rams in Week 13

Cards Wire and Rams Wire give their individual picks and predictions for this Week 13 NFC West showdown.

[jwplayer xr2BPSUF-ThvAeFxT]

The Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams face off this Sunday afternoon at State Farm Stadium. Both teams are seeking their first win in the division. The Rams are hoping to stay above .500 and the Cardinals hope to break three four-game losing streaks — they have lost four in a row on the season, four in a row to the Rams and four in a row at home to the Rams.

However, the Cardinals have had a lead late in the fourth quarter in each of the last two games and gave up the winning score.

Will things be different this week?

Rams Wire managing editor Cameron DaSilva and I give our picks and predictions for the game. Here is how we think things will go down in Glendale.

Rams Wire: Rams 24, Cardinals 21

I think the Rams are going to win this one, though I’m not overly confident in that pick after watching their offense the last three weeks. But I think the defense will do enough to slow down Arizona’s offense, and Goff should be able to avoid costly turnovers enough to keep the Rams in the game. I’ll say they win 24-21, but it’ll be close throughout.

Cards Wire: Cardinals 31, Rams 28

I think the game is close. The Cardinals, though, will take advantage of the extra rest and time to prepare, as well as the short week for the Rams. The Cardinals will continue to score points and will give up points, but this time they get the one stop they need. They pull off the win at home 31-28.

Who will be right? Find out on Sunday!
