Rams injury report: Rob Havenstein, Gerald Everett ruled out vs. Cardinals

The Rams will be down their top tight end when they take on the Cardinals.

The Los Angeles Rams wrapped up their week of practice and released their final injury report. Three players were ruled out, including two offensive starters.

Will not play

  • TE Gerald Everett (knee)
  • T Rob Havenstein (knee)
  • DB Darious Williams (ankle)

With no Havenstein, who is missing his third straight game, Bobby Evans will start at right tackle. He did not practice on Wednesday but was limited Thursday and Friday.  The Rams will miss Everett’s offensive production. He has 37 receptions, the third-most on the team. Tyler Higbee will get the start in his place. Neither Everett nor Williams practiced at all during the week.

Safety Marqui Christian (knee) missed practice on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday but was a full participant on Friday and has not game designation. He will play against the team who drafted him.

Running back Todd Gurley sat out of practice on Friday but it was just a day off.

Cardinals injury report: QB Kyler Murray question vs. Rams

He suffered a hamstring injury but was a full participant in practice on Friday.

The Arizona have a pretty healthy group of players heading into their Week 13 NFC matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. However, there is a new addition to the injury report.

Starting quarterback Kyler Murray appeared on the injury report with a hamstring injury.

Here is the report. Nobody is ruled out.

Questionable

  • QB Kyler Murray (hamstring)
  • DL Jonathan Bullard (foot)

The hamstring will worry many, especially with the designation of questionable. However, he practiced fully on Friday. So did Bullard. Coach Kliff Kingsbury said everyone would be available to play.

The only player who did not practice fully was linebacker Terrell Suggs, who a day off for the second time this week.

Reduced role tough for Cardinals RB David Johnson

“It’s rough, I’ve just got to move past it and make the most of every opportunity and have positive yards and have positive plays.”

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson is having to deal with a new and reduced role on offense. Kenyan Drake passed him on the depth chart and he didn’t get a single rushing attempt or pass thrown his way in the nine snaps he played in Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers.

It is the latest adversity he faces in his NFL career.

“If you’re any football player, they all want to be on the field as much as possible,” Johnson told reporters Wednesday. “It’s rough, but it’s football. There’s always adversity. It’s really just how you handle it.”

He had to deal with not being highly recruited out of high school. He was a third-round pick and had to work his way into the playing rotation as a rookie. He has had to bounce back from injuries.

Not playing as much as he is used to has not been easy for him.

“It’s obviously been hard,” he said. “Back in the past, I was in the majority of the snaps. It’s rough, I’ve just got to move past it and make the most of every opportunity and have positive yards and have positive plays.”

He has not been told what his role is exactly now.

“They haven’t told me anything,” he said. “Whenever I get in the game, just be ready.”

He indicated he has spoken to his coaches about things but would keep the substance of the conversations between him and them.

Johnson’s future with the team seems a little in doubt at this point. He is set to make more than $10 million next season and will have a salary cap hit of more than $14 million.

Hopefully he can get right before the end of the season because it wouldn’t make sense to have a $10 million backup on the roster. It also doesn’t make sense to cut him when it would cost more salary cap space to get rid of him than to keep him.

With five games remaining in the season, he has to prove himself once again.

Cardinals, Rams share 4 player connections

Each team has two players who spent time on the other team’s roster previously.

The Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams will face off this weekend at State Farm Stadium. Both teams have a pair of players who used to play for the other. There are two former Cardinals on the Rams’ roster and two former Rams on the Cardinals’ roster.

Who are they?

Cooper was drafted by the Rams in the fourth round in 2016 and played three seasons for them. He was even a Pro Bowl and All-Pro returner in 2017. The Rams cut him in 2018 and the Cardinals claimed him off waivers.

Rams coach Sean McVay is a big fan of Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald

McVay gushed about the Cardinals legend when he spoke with reporters on Thursday.

Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald is arguably the most respected player in the entire National Football League. He has fans all over. One big fan of his is Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay.

McVay gushed about Fitzgerald when he spoke with reporters on Thursday as his team prepares to take on the Cardinals this weekend in Arizona.

“You talk about the epitome of a pro – class, represents everything that’s right about the NFL,” he said. “Then the production, the talent, what he’s done over the course of his career is why he’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer,
without a doubt.”

McVay just loves everything about Fitzgerald on and off the field.

“I think the things that he does off the field – the way that he just consistently handles himself,” he said. “Then you watch the way that he competes with the ball, without the ball – the way that he’s still able to be productive. You can’t say enough good things about Larry. I have so much respect for him. I’ve loved watching him compete over the years. I’m a fan of Larry Fitzgerald. It’s impressive what he’s done.”

Through 11 games this season, Fitzgerald has 55 receptions for 593 yards and three touchdowns.

He has been especially productive in his career against the Rams. His 185 receptions against the Rams are the most he has against any team in the NFL.

The Cardinals and Rams lay this Sunday at 2 p.m. Arizona time at State Farm Stadium.

Cardinals hope to snap 3 4-game losing streaks with win over Rams

Arizona has lost four straight games this season, four in a row to the Rams overall and four straight at home against the Rams.

The Arizona Cardinals have three four-game losing streaks they would like to end this weekend when they take on the Los Angeles Rams.

The Cardinals have lost the last four games they have played this season. They have four in a row to the Rams overall. They have also lost four straight games to the Rams at State Farm Stadium.

The Rams hold a slight 40-38-2 lead in the all-time series but have been extremely successful against Arizona over the last two years. Their head coach, Sean McVay, has not lost to the Cardinals. In the last four games the Cardinals and Rams have played, Los Angeles has won all four and outscored the Cardinals 130-25.

The Cardinals have not even scored a point in Los Angeles since they beat the Rams 44-6 to close out the 2016 season.

The Cardinals even have a losing record at home against the Rams, going 18-19-2. In fact, the Cardinals have lost four games in a row to the Rams at State Farm Stadium. Their last win at home again Los Angeles was in 2014.

Can the Cardinals snap all three four-game skids? The Rams are coming off a 45-6 loss and the Cardinals are coming off a bye week. With three games in a row on their schedule in December, it would be a great way for the Cardinals to start the final month of the season.

Rams injury report: RT Rob Havenstein upgraded

He was limited on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday with a knee injury.

The Los Angeles Rams were back at practice on Thursday and had their injury situation improve some. They released their second injury report of the week and two players were upgraded.

On Wednesday, four players sat out with injuries. Two sat out on Thursday with two getting limited work.

Did not practice

  • TE Gerald Everett (knee)
  • DB Darious Williams (ankle)

Everett missed for the second day in a row. With how tight ends have played against the Cardinals, Arizona could catch a break, although they will still have to deal with Tyler Higbee.

Limited

  • T Rob Havenstein (knee)
  • S Marqui Christian (knee)

Havenstein has struggled this season but the Rams need him in the lineup to battle Chandler Jones and Terrell Suggs. Rams coach Sean McVay said he will play if he is able to.

Cardinals injury report: RB Chase Edmonds practices fully on Thursday

Only Jonathan Bullard is limited in the Cardinals’ Thanksgiving practice.

[jwplayer JfrFB5rG-ThvAeFxT]

The Arizona Cardinals’ Thanksgiving Day practice brought better news in terms of the team’s health. They released their second injury report and a positive report was made even better.

On Wednesday, only two players were limited by injury. On Thursday, only one was limited, while the rest of the team practiced fully.

Most notably, running back Chase Edmonds was upgraded. Limited with his hamstring injury on Wednesday, he was a full participant on Thursday. DT Corey Peters, WR Larry Fitzgerald, LB Terrell Suggs and LB Chandler Jones, all of whom had part or all of Wednesday off for rest, were full participants on Thursday.

The only player to not practice fully was DL Jonathan Bullard, who is still recovering from a foot injury.

When the Cardinals host the L.A. Rams this weekend, they might be able to have an inactive list of healthy scratches.

Kenyan Drake officially passes David Johnson on Cardinals’ depth chart

He was previously listed as the third-string running back behind Johnson and Chase Edmonds.

The Arizona Cardinals made a change on their offensive depth chart and put it in writing. Running back David Johnson is no longer the team’s starting running back.

With injuries and ineffectiveness, he has seen his playing time dwindle. He played only nine first-half snaps in the team’s last game two weekends ago and had zero touches in the running game or targets in the passing game.

Kenyan Drake was getting the bulk of the playing time.

Now that change is reflected on the latest depth chart released by the team.

Previously, Drake was listed as the team’s third-string back behind both Johnson and Chase Edmonds.

In the depth chart released by the team this week, Drake is now No. 1 and Johnson is No. 2. Edmonds is third behind them.

Edmonds is expected to return from a hamstring injury that has kept him out of the last three games. This weekend against the Los Angeles Rams, it will be the first time the Cardinals have had all three players healthy and able to play.
