The history of Ohio State quarterbacks in the NFL

Ohio State quarterbacks have starred in college. However, they have found a rougher time when stepping up to the NFL.

Washington gleefully selected Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Haskins had a rough rookie season as did the team. Different schools are known for producing pro players at certain positions. For the longest time, Penn State was Linebacker U. No one, however, would consider Ohio State as QB U.

What NCAA seed could Ohio State land if it wins the Big Ten tournament?

The Ohio State basketball team has a chance to make a multi-game run in the Big Ten Tournament, and it could seriously help its resume.

The Ohio State basketball team has a chance to improve its seeding in the NCAA Tournament if it can make a deeper-than-expected run in the Big Ten Tournament.

Already with a first-round bye, the tournament’s seventh seed will start out playing the No. 11 seed, the Purdue Boilermakers. It won’t be easy (Big Ten games rarely are), but Ohio State did defeat Purdue by 16 just a few weeks ago. That game was at home though, and this one is just a stone’s throw from West Lafayette. It should be a pro-Boilermaker crowd.

They’ll then get Michigan State.

For argument’s sake, let’s assume the Buckeyes defeat Michigan State. Then, for kicks and giggles, we assume they defeat Maryland and lose in the final to a Wisconsin team they’ve yet to beat this season.

If that were to happen, Ohio State would have two additional top-15 victories under their belt. Maryland is currently ranked No. 12 while Michigan State is No. 9.

Ohio State does have double-digit losses, but they have a stellar resume. Rattling off nine straight wins to start the season, Ohio State has six top-25 victories to go with a perfect 3-0 record against teams in the top ten.

With most bracket projections giving the Buckeyes a No. 5 seed currently, those victories should boost them back into the top 15 and potentially into the No. 4 seed range if everything else falls into place nationally.

Either way, with their action in the Big Ten Tournament kicking off against Purdue at 6:30 p.m. EST on March 11, the Buckeyes will have a chance to get a hot streak going and figure out how to improve an already impressive resume heading into late March.

Let all the fun begin.

Ohio State assistant Kevin Wilson optimistic about the Master Teague injury

Ohio State assistant coach Kevin Wilson was asked about the severity of running back Master Teague’s injury. He sounded optimistic.

[jwplayer uXx6BLSf-o2AELQvx]

News broke yesterday that Master Teague, the presumed starter at running back, will miss all of spring drills after sustaining an Achilles injury on the first day of spring practice. Most will cringe hearing about an injury of this magnitude, but how bad is it?

Ryan Day put Buckeye Nation in a bit of a panic yesterday by saying “We’re one injury away from a little bit of a crisis right now, but in the end, when it comes to September, we’re gonna be okay.” This statement came before the status of Teague’s injury was known.

However, Kevin Wilson was asked about Teague’s status today and he sounded a little more optimistic. When asked if Wilson thought Teague would be back for the start of the season he said “Yeah, I would think so.”

Wilson was quick to add that no one really knows how quickly or slowly each individual person will heal from various injuries. So if the typical timeline for an injury is three months, it may be shorter or it could be longer.

“Sometimes guys just heal faster,” said Wilson. “Their bodies recover faster. Sometimes they get treatment better than others and sometimes the injury is a little bit worse than you think. So, to say there’s a specific timeline… that’s why we do so much practices before spring ball, you get a chance to get them back.”

We’re hoping Coach Wilson is right. Not only for the Buckeye Football team, but for a young man who has been patiently waiting his turn. Wishing all the best and a speedy recovery for No. 33

Ohio Sate baseball gets win over Lipscomb to give Beals 300th win

The Ohio State baseball team put it on Lipscomb 11-6 to give coach Greg Beals his 300th win as the Buckeyes’ skipper.

The Ohio State baseball team got back in the winning column Friday night with an 11-6 win in Nashville over Lipscomb. With it, head coach Greg Beals notched his 300th career victory with Ohio State.

The game stayed scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd inning when Lipscomb strung together four-straight hits with two outs to take a 3-0 lead.

The Buckeyes struck right back however in the top of the 4th inning, plating two runs on a couple of RBI singles by Mitchell Okuley and Marcus Ernst. Suddenly a quick answer made it 3-2 Bison.

After holding Lipscomb scoreless in the bottom of the 4th, the Buckeyes struck again in the top of the 5th inning. Scottie Seymour singled home the tying run with two outs, then Nate Karaffa hit got a big two-out, two-run single with the bases loaded to give the Buckeyes a 5-3 advantage.

The offense exploded in the 6th inning with five more runs, highlighted by a three-run shot by Karaffa to blow things wide open 10-3. Meanwhile, on the bump, Garrett Burhenn settled in, allowing just the one major blip in the 3rd inning, and finishing with nine hits, four earned runs, and a career-high nine strikeouts to get the win.

OSU added one more run in the top of the eighth on a Zach Dezenzo RBI single, and the Bison got one run in the 7th and two more in the 9th to finish up the scoring and give Ohio State the win.

The Buckeyes improved their record to 3-4 and will be back at it again against Lipscomb at 3:00 PM. Ohio State ace Seth Lonsway gets the start.

Ohio State vs. Rutgers 2019 basketball preview and prediction

Ohio State comes back home to host a Rutgers team that’s having a whale of a season. Here’s a preview, prediction, and odds for the game.

Have you ever seen a season with so much inconsistency as what we are witnessing with this Ohio State basketball team? There are some really, really good wins in there, but also some stinkers in which the team failed to show up.

Now Ohio State hosts a Rutgers team that it’s looking up at in the standings, but one that it really needs to beat at home. The Scarlet Knights have been a far different team on the road, winning just one time at Nebraska, and losing its other five. But they’ve all been close.

A win by the Buckeyes would get them back to just one game under .500, while a loss would probably put this team pretty close to the bubble with time running out before the postseason.

It’s life in the big, bad Big Ten.

Ohio State vs. Michigan 2019 basketball game preview and prediction

Ohio State hits the road again, this time to take on arch-rival Michigan. We’ve got the preview and prediction of what’s going to happen.

Okay, it’s about to get real as things get close to heading down the home stretch here in college basketball. Ohio State is still looking to get its dancing shoes on, but there’s still work to do. Right now the Buckeyes are solidly in the field, but a less than stellar finish could have them on the outside looking in.

And don’t look now, but staring OSU right in the face is a game against a Michigan team that’s had a season paralleling its own. The Wolverines raced out to a great start and were once in the top five of the country, but fell into a bit of a downward spiral just like Ohio State.

Now the two are set to match up for their only regular-season meeting of the year. The winner continues to add to its resume, but the loser might be looking for more answers on the schedule to bolster the chances of remaining off the proverbial bubble.

How will it all play out?

Columbus, Ohio named finalist for 2025 or 2026 Women’s Final Four

Columbus, Ohio, most likely at Nationwide Arena, has been named a finalist for either the 2025 or 2026 NCAA Women’s Final Four.

Columbus, Ohio has been named a finalist for either the 2025 or 2026 NCAA Women’s Final Four. If it were to be selected, all the magic would take place at Nationwide Arena.

This is a huge development for Columbus. After hosting the finale at Nationwide in 2018, there must have been quite a bit of positive feedback for the city to have its name on the list once again so quickly.

If the Arch City is granted the 2025 spot, the women’s final would be in Ohio for two straight years, having already been given to Cleveland in 2024.

The other three finalists include Tampa, Phoenix, and Portland. Tampa has an extensive history of hosting the event — having landed it in 2008, 2015, and 2019.

While nothing is for certain, it would be pretty neat to have the Final Four back in Columbus.

Ohio State vs. Minnesota 2019 basketball preview, prediction

Ohio State hosts Minnesota and is in desperate need of a win. We’ve got your preview and prediction.

Is this the game in which the Ohio State basketball team starts to regain that form from earlier this year, or will it be another fall from grace?

Minnesota gave the Buckeyes their first loss of the season on the road back in December, and it was chalked up to the Big Ten being the Big Ten back then. However, perhaps we should have seen it as sings of trouble. Including that game, OSU has dropped six of the past nine and is looking for answers to turn around what was a promising season.

Both teams now need a win to bolster their NCAA Tournament resumes, but one could make the argument that this one is much more important for Ohio State than the Gophers.

It’s time to get into our preview and prediction. As a reminder we use BetMGM for our game lines.

Ohio State vs. Penn State 2020 basketball game preview and prediction

Ohio State travels to Penn State to try and get its first conference road win of the year. We’ve got your preview and prediction.

For some reason, these games against Penn State have been wildly entertaining over the last couple of years, aside from the one earlier this year in the Schott. In that one, Ohio State administered a public flogging of the Nittany Lions, winning by 32 points in what was likely the peak of dominance for the Buckeyes.

Since then though, both teams seem to be on parallel paths. Both have had a little good, but more bad so far in the Big Ten season. Both teams are sitting at a surprising 2-4 in the league and looking to move closer to .500 and a shot at beginning a run back to the upper half of the league.

Ohio State has both suspended guards Luther Muhammad and Duane Washington back, and it’ll need both to be active and effective to find a way to win a Big Ten game on the road for the first time this year.

Is Ohio State football becoming wide-receiver U?

Ohio State has been known for being a run-heavy team throughout its history, but is it now becoming Wide Receiver U?

It’s been well documented that Ohio State has been laying claim as “DBU” for churning out NFL defensive backs throughout history. The Bucks may start claiming the title of “Wide Receiver U” before too long.

Ohio State was a little late to the passing game as Buckeye Legend Woody Hayes famously said: “There are only three things can happen on a pass, and two of them are bad.” But Ohio State would start to evolve with names like Chris Carter, Terry Glenn, and David Boston in the 80’s and 90’s.

However, you might be surprised to know that since the 2000 NFL draft, Ohio State has had more receivers drafted than any other college program. It’ll no doubt add to that total with guys like KJ Hill and Austin Mack this coming April.

It seems now, Columbus is the place to be for highly-touted receivers to land. The 2020 recruiting class lays claim to the No. 1, No. 5, No. 12, and No. 15 ranked receivers in the nation (Julian Flemming, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Gee Scott, Jr., and Mookie Cooper). Add this class to what was a strong 2019 receiving class led by the No. 2 nationally-ranked receiver, Garrett Wilson, and there is something special in the making.

Speaking of Garrett Wilson, he and fellow Buckeye Wideout, Chris Olave just made the Pro Football Focus list of top 25 receivers returning to college football in 2020.  Wilson comes in at No. 24 and Olave makes the ranking at No. 10.

Brian Hartline is doing work not only bringing in top-level talent, but developing that talent as well. And we’re excited to see what this explosive group can do going forward.
