Colts had free-agent visit with former Titans OL Dennis Kelly

Former Titans OL Dennis Kelly had a visit with Tennessee’s division rival.

Former Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Dennis Kelly had a free-agent visit with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, according to the league’s transactions wire.

The Colts have two starting spots along their offensive line that need to be filled after the team didn’t retain left tackle Eric Fisher and right guard Mark Glowinski signed with the New York Giants.

As of right now, the favorites to land those roles are tackle Matt Pryor and guard Danny Pinter, but neither appears to be totally locked in, which would leave the door open for Kelly to compete should he sign with the Colts.

Not only can Kelly provide a serviceable starting option, he’s also a versatile backup option with his ability to play either tackle spot, and guard if need be.

Considering the Titans have multiple question marks upfront, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for them to consider a reunion with Kelly.

A former fifth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2015, Kelly spent the first three seasons of his career there.

He was then traded to Tennessee in 2016 for wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham in what turned out to be a great deal for the Titans.

Kelly’s first four seasons saw him serve as a key backup. In 2020, he netted a three-year, $17.25 million deal and became the starter at right tackle; however, he was cut the following offseason.

In 2021, Kelly signed on with the Green Bay Packers, where he played in 10 games (four starts). He hit the open market again this offseason after the Packers didn’t re-sign him.

AFC South round-up: Colts’ door open for Hilton, Jags have 4 targets for No. 1 pick

The Jaguars have apparently whittled down their targets for the No. 1 overall pick to four.

For the last time before the 2022 NFL draft, which begins on April 28, we’re taking a look at what the Tennessee Titans’ AFC South rivals — the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts — are up to.

In Indianapolis, the Colts haven’t closed the door on a reunion with T.Y. Hilton. Even if the veteran returns, Indy needs more help at receiver, a position they could very well address in the upcoming draft.

The Jaguars own the No. 1 overall pick yet again, and while general manager Trent Baalke says the team is still working through who it will pick, the options have apparently been whittled down to four.

Down in Houston, the Texans aren’t expecting much (if any) trade action for their No. 3 overall pick, as general manager Nick Caserio recently admitted.

Those are just three of the stories we’re covering for you this week. Here’s a look at those and six more in our latest AFC South round-up.

9 AFC South stories from last week for Titans fans to know

In our latest AFC South round-up: Etienne isn’t too upset about missing the 2021 season, and the Colts sign Stephon Gilmore.

It’s that time once again to check in on the Tennessee Titans’ AFC South rivals, the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Colts made the biggest headline last week when they inked cornerback Stephon Gilmore to a two-year deal. When at his best, Gilmore is one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL and should provide a boost to Indy’s defense.

Jaguars running back Travis Etienne revealed he isn’t too upset that his first NFL season was cut short due to injury thanks to the disastrous tenure of former head coach, Urban Meyer.

In Houston, quarterback Davis Mills is receiving some praise, and there is some talk about the Texans possibly wheeling and dealing with their draft picks, and in particular No. 13 overall.

Check out those stories and more in our latest trip around the AFC South to keep an eye on what Tennessee’s division rivals are up to.

AFC South news: Texans extend Cooks, Jags looking to upgrade stadium, more

A look at 10 AFC South stories from last week for Titans fans to know.

We are officially in the down time of the offseason where not much is going on as we prepare for the upcoming 2022 NFL draft; however, the Tennessee Titans’ rivals — the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans — all had some interesting headlines to take a look at.

In Houston, the Texans are keeping their best receiver in Brandin Cooks, who was inked to a contract extension. Cooks was thought to be a trade candidate, but that did not end up happening.

In Jacksonville, the Jags are looking to make upgrades to their stadium, and it appears they won’t be able to move the No. 1 overall pick even if they want to.

The Colts saw a recent draft pick retire after just two seasons in the NFL, and they had a pair of signings and a handful of workouts/pre-draft visits over the past week.

Here’s a look a those stories and more in our latest trip around the AFC South to check in on the Titans’ division rivals.

10 AFC South stories from last week for Titans fans to know

Colts owner Jim Irsay was good for several interesting quotes at the owner’s meetings this past week.

After turning the calendar to April, it’s time to take a trip around the AFC South to see what the Tennessee Titans’ division rivals — the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans — are up to.

While down at the owner’s meetings this past week, Colts owner Jim Irsay had plenty of interesting things to say, including expressing his frustration with Tennessee’s dominance in the division, a story we covered here.

However, Irsay didn’t stop there. He talked about the decision to move on from Carson Wentz, and was brutally honest about losing to the Jaguars in Week 18. From a media perspective, Irsay is a gold mine.

In free agency news, the Jags and Texans made additions to their defense and offense, respectively, and Jacksonville head coach Doug Pederson provided injury updates on two key offensive players for the Jags.

We go over those signings, the injury updates, Irsay’s eye-opening comments and more in our latest trip around the AFC South.

9 AFC South stories from last week for Titans fans to know

There was another major QB trade in the AFC South last week, and more details emerged about the disastrous tenure of Urban Meyer in Jacksonville.

Just days after the Deshaun Watson-Houston Texans saga ended with him being traded to the Cleveland Browns, the AFC South saw another major quarterback trade last week.

The Indianapolis Colts pulled off a trade with the Atlanta Falcons, acquiring quarterback Matt Ryan in exchange for a 2022 third-round selection, a huge move for the quarterback-needy Colts.

The Falcons were at one point thought to be one of the favorites for Watson, but they blew their lead, 28-3 style.

The argument can certainly be made that if the Falcons didn’t pursue Watson so vigorously, Ryan would still be in Atlanta and not with the Titans’ AFC South rival.

Say what you want about Ryan, but out of a group of possible quarterback options that also included Jameis Winston, Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo, Ryan was the last guy we wanted to see in Indy.

The Ryan trade is just one of nine stories we’re taking a look at from around the AFC South.

Titans free agent Rashaan Evans set to visit with Jaguars

Titans free agent Rashaan Evans is reportedly set to visit with a division rival.

One of the Tennessee Titans’ free agents this offseason, linebacker Rashaan Evans, is set to visit with a division rival. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Evans will meet with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night.

A former first-round pick of the Titans in 2018, Evans had his fifth-year option declined last year, setting him up for free agency in 2022.

The expectation all along has been that Tennessee wouldn’t bring him back. The Alabama product flashed early on in his career, but was no doubt a disappointment the past two seasons.

Evans began the 2021 campaign as one of two starters at inside linebacker, but both he and Jayon Brown were surpassed on the depth chart by David Long and Zach Cunningham later in the season.

Jacksonville recently became in need of an inside linebacker after the release of Myles Jack, who went on to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Evans would have a good shot to grab a starting role with the Jags.

What Titans’ AFC South rivals did on Day 2 of legal tampering period

After a quiet day to start the legal tampering period, the Colts made more moves on Tuesday, but none included a quarterback.

Day 2 of the legal tampering period saw each of the Tennessee Titans’ AFC South rivals — the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts — make moves.

However, the script was flipped from Day 1. After the Jags were the most active and the Colts the least active on the opening day, it was Indy who made more moves than Jacksonville on Day 2.

None of those Colts moves included a quarterback, though. They are still searching for Carson Wentz’s replacement.

The Texans were also busy. They re-signed multiple of their own free agents, while also restructuring Laremy Tunsil to free up more money and agreeing to terms with outside free agents.

Here’s a rundown of what each team did on Day 2 of the legal tampering period. You can check out everything the Titans have done thus far in our tracker right here, and here’s the Day 1 recap for the Colts, Texans and Jaguars in case you missed it.

What Titans’ AFC South rivals did on Day 1 of legal tampering period

As active as the Jaguars were on Day 1 of the legal tampering period, the Colts were the opposite.

While the Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts all made at least one move on Day 1 of the legal tampering period of free agency, it was the Jacksonville Jaguars who stole the show.

And, as you’d expect, for all the wrong reasons. The Jaguars went ballistic, dropping a boatload of money on the first unofficial day of free agency. However, it wasn’t that they spent a lot of money, it’s how they spent it.

Some of those contracts were real head-scratchers, like the one they gave wide receiver Christian Kirk, which caught the attention of Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown.

As busy as the Jags were, the Colts were the exact opposite. Despite entering the offseason with more cap space than any other team, Indy was very quiet on Day 1, with their lone move being the re-signing of tight end Mo Alie-Cox.

In what might be a sign of how desperate things might be for the Colts at quarterback, they actually called the Texans to request a meeting with Deshaun Watson, but Houston was not having it.

Hey, you miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take, right?

Here’s a look at the signings each of the Titans’ AFC South rivals made on Day 1 of the legal tampering period. If you want to see what Tennessee did, check out our free agency tracker right here. We’ll update regularly.

10 AFC South stories from last week for Titans fans to know

Carson Wentz and Deshaun Watson were both in the headlines this past week.

In our latest trip around the AFC South, we’re taking a look at some major quarterback headlines coming from the Tennessee Titans’ division rivals.

In Houston, there is more clarity on the Deshaun Watson situation after the Texans quarterback avoided criminal charges when a grand jury decided not to indict him. He isn’t done with his legal issues yet, though.

The Indianapolis Colts pulled off a trade with the Washington Commanders that involved Carson Wentz. We also got some insight into what Wentz’s issues were in Indy, which extended beyond his play on the field.

The Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t have anywhere near the week the Texans or Colts had, but they did make some decisions on some of their pending free agents, including left tackle Cam Robinson.

We’ll cover all of those stories and more as we continue to keep an eye on the Titans’ AFC South foes ahead of what will be a busy week with the start of free agency looming.
