Cardinals met virtually with Houston pass rusher David Anenih

Anenih is a long-armed, athletic edge defender who could be targeted on Day 3 of the draft.

The NFL draft is less than two weeks away and we continue to get reports of the players the Arizona Cardinals have made contact with. The latest is Houston edge defender David Anenih.

According to The Draft Network’s Justin Melo, Anenih had virtual meetings with the Cardinals and two other teams.

Anenih played five seasons for Houston, taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility he got because of the pandemic. In 2021, he had 30 tackles, five sacks and 10.0 tackles for loss.

He is 6-2 and 245 lbs with long 34 3/8-inch arms. At his pro day, he posted a 4.74-second 40 time, 25 reps 225 lbs on the bench press, a 36.5-inch vertical leap and a 123-inch broad jump.

He is a player the Cardinals might like with one of their five selections in the final two rounds of the draft or he could be a potential undrafted free agent they target.

He didn’t have great production as a pass rusher, but his length and athleticism could make him an intriguing developmental player with upside on special teams.
