Can Texas WR Devin Duvernay run the fastest 40 at the NFL Combine?

Texas wide receiver Devin Duvernay is one of the leading candidates to run the fastest 40-yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine.

Wide receiver Devin Duvernay played an enormous role in Texas’ offense last season.

Although he never missed a single game throughout his collegiate career, Duvernay’s senior season was one for the record books. He led the nation in total receptions and receptions per game throughout the regular season.

He also topped the Big 12 in nearly every major category for receivers, including total catches, catches per game, receiving yards and receiving yards per game.

His speed certainly helped in gathering these accolades.

All eyes will be on Duvernay as he attempts the 40-yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine. According to USA Today, he is a leading candidate to score the fastest time this year.

Although Alabama receiver Henry Ruggs III is the favorite to land the top speed and potentially break the combine record of 4.22, there’s no denying Duvernay’s quickness. He ran the 100 meters in 10.27 seconds as a state champion in high school and has been timed in 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash in college.

He has a unique frame, a short sturdy nature with a ton of muscle in the lower half. His best trait is his runaway speed and tackle-breaking ability, but don’t overlook his strong hands.
