We’re roughly two months away from the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl have concluded, leaving just the NFL Combine and Pro Day as the last opportunities for draft prospects to showcase their strengths in front of NFL organizations.
The Longhorns will be sending 11 players to the NFL Combine this year, the most invitees for the school since 2015. Two of those players are widely projected to be taken off the board in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.
Defensive tackle Byron Murphy is Texas’ highest rated draft prospect this year. He’s considered the No. 1 defensive tackle in this draft class and is projected to be selected in the middle of the first round.
In PFF’s latest NFL mock draft, Murphy is slated to the Las Vegas Raiders with the No. 13 overall pick. This appears to be a common landing spot for Murphy in numerous mock drafts over the last few weeks.
Another Longhorn with a common landing spot recently is wide receiver Adonai Mitchell with the Kansas City Chiefs at the end of the first round. PFF projects the Chiefs to select Mitchell with the No. 31 pick. Mitchell would provide a lethal threat for quarterback Patrick Mahomes with his contested catch ability.
