Buckeye Bash set for incoming Ohio State recruits

Incoming five-star running back TreVeyon Henderson told Eleven Warriors that the date for the ‘Buckeye Bash’ is set.

The latest trend in recruiting is for commits to plan their own get together amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Because the NCAA has forbidden coaches and players to meet in person, having an on-campus event organized through recruiting personnel can’t happen. So, we’ve seen several teams work something out on their own and get a class and other potential prospects together.

There have been previous reports that Ohio State has been working on putting together a similar set up aptly named the “Buckeye Bash,” and according to incoming five-star running back TreVeyon Henderson who spoke to Eleven Warriors, the event has been set for October 24. That just so happens to be the first Ohio State game of the year against Nebraska (but of course you knew that). The date of the get together was first reported by Bill Kuerlic of Bucknuts.

“We’re mainly just gonna go around campus and things like that, and Jack’s (Sawyer) got some other stuff planned,” Henderson told Eleven Warriors. “It’s gonna be an exciting time because he’s got a lot of stuff planned. He’s basically gonna be our guide and tell us where to go.”

Sawyer, who hails from Pickerington North is obviously well-versed in the central Ohio area and has apparently been working on setting up some things for all that can make it. The plan is to watch the game and just get to know each other a little better.

“We’re definitely gonna try to find somewhere to watch that game because you can’t get in. We’re gonna have to find somewhere that’s live that we can watch the game at.”

Henderson is looking forward to the event, but he’s most looking forward to also getting to know Ohio State’s campus that he’s been unable to visit so far, while also starting to form that brotherhood OSU has been known for.

“Just finally getting to see all the guys in person and getting together and bonding more. Visiting campus, finally getting to see what the campus is like and what the city is like,” Henderson said of what he’s most looking forward to on the visit.

As we get further word on attendees and reaction, we’ll have it for you.
