Breaking: Paul Mulcahy commits out of the transfer portal to the Washington Huskies

Paul Mulcahy is officially leaving Rutgers and joining Washington.

Paul Mulcahy, who spent the last four years at Rutgers basketball, committed to the Washington Huskies on Tuesday. Mulcahy had entered the transfer portal last month.

The starting guard for Rutgers the past three seasons, Mulcahy made 121 appearances and 91 starts during his four seasons at Rutgers. He finished his career averaging 6.8 points and 3. assists per game.

All of his starts came in his final three seasons with the Scarlet Knights.

Last year while playing with an injured shoulder, Mulcahy averaged 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

This past season, Washington went 16-16 (8-12 Pac 12). They had some narrow losses to ranked teams including 70-67 at No. 5 Arizona in early January and then a nine-point loss at No. 9 UCLA in early February.

Mulcahy brings instant leadership to a team that is looking to take the next step this season and potentially play in the postseason. His court presence and leadership will be welcome to the Huskies locker room.

In addition, his mid-range jump shot and ability to post up will help Washington on the offensive end.
