Bills draft history without a first-round pick

2005: Roscoe Parrish

This is another pick that spanned quite a bit of time. At the 2004 draft, the Bills, still searching for the quarterback to bring them back to the promised land (and following a season in which they failed to make the playoffs by losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers JV team in the final game of the season), took a swing and traded three picks to Dallas to select Tulane quarterback JP Losman. Losman, the heir apparent to Drew Bledsoe. He flamed out five years in Buffalo, earning full-time starting duties in only one of those seasons.

The pick:

Buffalo selected Miami wide receiver Roscoe Parrish with the 55th overall pick in 2005. He was an adequate receiver for the Bills, although nothing close to the game-breaker than they hoped he would be when selected. Parrish was a dynamic punt returner, leading the league in return average twice during his career in Buffalo.
