Being No. 1 ‘doesn’t really mean anything’ says Nate Oats

Nate Oats isn’t concerning himself with Alabama’s recent bump to No. 1.

On Monday, the Alabama men’s basketball team made program history by being ranked No. 1 in the latest AP and USA TODAY Coaches Poll.

Alabama has not been ranked No. 1 since the 2002-03 season.

Alabama was able to rise in the rankings following the Tide’s road win at Auburn and Purdue’s weekend loss at Northwestern.

After the rankings were released, Crimson Tide head coach [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] would join Birmingham’s The Next Round to give his thoughts on Alabama’s historic ranking.

Coach Oats made it very clear that the rankings were not that important at the moment and his team is focused on preparing for Tennessee and trying to win the SEC regular season championship.
