Baldy Breakdown: Giants are proving they’re a prideful bunch

Brian Baldinger breaks down film of the New York Giants’ victory over the Green Bay Packers and concludes, “There’s pride in New York!”

The 2023 season for the New York Giants has fallen short of what was expected.

The start of the season derailed the team for several weeks during which time they lost a slew of players to injury. When the Giants pegged Tommy DeVito to replace the injured Tyrod Taylor who had already replaced Daniel Jones, most thought the team’s season was over.

As an undrafted rookie, the expectations for DeVito weren’t high. The hope was he wouldn’t turn the ball over and the Giants could keep from getting blown out while waiting for Taylor to return. But DeVito had other ideas and now there’s hope in New York.

Retired offensive lineman and current NFL analyst, Brian Baldinger, broke down film from Monday’s 24-22 win over the Green Bay Packers.

Referencing DeVito’s moniker as The Passing Paisano, Baldinger focused on the Giants’ game-winning drive against the Packers and broke down exactly how they made it happen. He also illustrates DeVito’s football IQ on this play:

DeVito is certainly proving that he belongs on an NFL team, but he’s not the only reason the Giants have reason to be prideful. Kayvon Thibodeaux and Saquon Barkley are both huge factors in that pride.

“Every team needs a Glowinski,” Baldinger says in the below video. “When did all this blocking take place?”

“What a day! What a weekend in New York it was for football,” Baldinger said.

But perhaps the best and most accurate part of his review came during the end of the above video when Barkley is shown cutting through the middle of the line, eventually going down right on the Giants logo at midfield:

“Bam, look at that Giant logo. There’s pride in New York! There’s pride with the Giants. Big Blue looking strong down the stretch,” he said.

DeVito and the way this team has turned its season around have given the Giants fresh hope. Four wins in a row now, and five is a real possibility on Sunday in New Orleans.
