The Atlanta Braves (52-48) take on the New York Mets (60-43) Wednesday in the opener of a 4-game set at Citi Field at 7:10 p.m. ET Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: Tied 3-3
The Braves have been singing to the Creedence Clearwater Revival tune: “Who’ll Stop the Rain?” They were rained out Tuesday and tried to play a doubleheader Wednesday but only got the early 9-4 loss in. Not only are they dealing with the actual downpour, but they are reeling due to injuries after losing 2B Ozzie Albies (wrist) for potentially 8 weeks. DH Marcell Ozuna is doing everything he can with a .412 BA, 4 homers and 5 RBIs over the last 15 days. The Braves have lost 3 straight.
Conversely, the Mets have won 3 straight after pounding the New York Yankees and RHP Gerrit Cole 12-3 Wednesday. SS Francisco Lindor went 3-for-6 with 2 homers and 5 RBIs. Mets 2B Jeff McNeil is also raking at .400 with 4 homers and 8 RBIs the last 7 days.

Braves at Mets picks and predictions
Prediction
Braves 4, Mets 3
Moneyline
The Braves are fading quickly, but Sale has been unreal. He hasn’t allowed more than 2 ER in his last 7 starts. He’s now the front runner for the NL Cy Young Award (+120 at BetMGM Sportsbook).
The Braves also have a massive advantage in the pen with their 2nd-best 2.95 ERA. The Mets are 18th at 4.12.
That’s why I’m taking the BRAVES -115.
Run line/Against the spread
I don’t like either side of the RL here. But I am feeling LUIS SEVERINO OVER 1.5 WALKS (-125). He has 3, 3, and 2 walks in his last 3 starts against Miami, Washington and Pittsburgh. Those offenses aren’t scaring anyone, but Atlanta’s still can.
Over/Under
It’s slated to be 80 degrees with a 7-mph wind blowing in from left-center. The Braves are 4-6 O/U over the last 10, and the Mets are 6-4. With the wind backing 2 pitchers who have dealt of late, I like the UNDER 7.5 (-115).
