Athlon Sports recently previewed the quarterback situation at each Big 12 school and ranked the projected starters ahead of spring ball.
There has been a ton of movement via the transfer portal this offseason in regards to quarterbacks within the Big 12. Quinn Ewers, Dillon Gabriel and Adrian Martinez have joined the conference, while Caleb Williams and Casey Thompson transferred to another program. On top of that, Skylar Thompson and Brock Purdy have departed for the 2022 NFL draft.
Needless to say, there will be several quarterback battles to keep an eye on. Texas, TCU and Texas Tech are expected to have the toughest quarterback competitions, while Adrian Martinez is the favorite to start for Kansas State and Dillon Gabriel appears to have the Oklahoma vacancy secured.
In January, Longhorns Wire projected the starting quarterbacks for each Big 12 program. There are a few differences compared to Athlon Sports’ predictions, but a few of these battles will likely become more clear after spring practices.
