As we continue through the offseason, Roll Tide Wire has decided to bring fans a quick snapshot of each scholarship player listed on Alabama’s 2020 football roster.
Each day, we’ll release anywhere from 2-4 player profiles giving fans a glimpse into the players who will be available this upcoming season. Whether that’s size, classification, hometowns or recruiting rankings coming out of high school, we’ve got you covered.
Also included in each article is a quick recap letting you know what to expect from that player for the upcoming 2020 season and beyond.
Next up on the list is cornerback Brandon Turnage out of Oxford (Miss.).

Analysis: Brandon Turnage is an interesting player for Alabama. He only ended up playing in one game against Western Carolina during his true freshman season, but he’s got some likable traits and the Tide have needs in the secondary.
Turnage is one of the few players on the roster who could effectively play cornerback or safety in Alabama’s defense. He’s got the size and overall length (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) to play either, although adding 10-15 pounds with a move to safety could be beneficial.
In some ways, the Oxford native reminds me of former Alabama safety Deionte Thompson. Some might point to the fact that Turnage wore the No. 14 last season — the same number Thompson wore during his time in Tuscaloosa.
But it’s more than that. In the limited tape from high school, Turnage showed fluid hips and a rangy style of play that would seemingly translate to the college level.
Don’t expect a starting spot from Turnage, but he could be a versatile piece who could earn some playing time during Year 2, whether that be at safety, cornerback or, more likely, special teams.
One more note: Turnage is now rocking the No. 7 after the departure of Trevon Diggs, a second-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in the 2020 NFL Draft.
