Analysis: Deonte Brown will return as one of Alabama’s starting offensive linemen in 2020, but the question is where will he play?

The mammoth offensive lineman spent most of the 2018 season as the starter at left guard before being suspended for the College Football Playoff, and the suspension carried over for four games this past season. After returning, Brown took over at right guard with Landon Dickerson kicking inside to center.

The main reason for Brown shifting sides was due to the emergence of true freshman Evan Neal, who is expected to slide to right tackle to replace top 10 pick Jedrick Wills Jr. If that ends up happening, don’t be surprised to see  Dickerson move back to right guard and Brown slide back over to the left side next to Alex Leatherwood.

Either way, expect Brown to continue to be one of the more effective run-blocking offensive linemen in college football, as his insertion into the starting lineup has significantly impact the Crimson Tide’s run game for two consecutive seasons.
