Alabama Morning Drive: Spring practice has arrived

The top stories involving the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday morning.

Happy Friday morning all! Thank you for joining us here at Roll Tide Wire for another edition of Alabama Morning Drive. We come to you this Friday with the good news that Alabama football will be returning to the practice field today, but also the fact that the Alabama basketball team blew a big lead in the SEC tournament to the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Alabama basketball suffers embarrassing loss in SEC tournament

The strange season for the ‘Bama hoops squad manifested itself Thursday night in Tampa. The Tide led by as many as 15-points in the second half but that was not enough to keep Vanderbilt from defeating the Crimson Tide 82-76.

There really isn’t much to be said about this basketball team anymore. We all know they have defeated some of the nation’s elite this season, but have also suffered defeats to teams like Georiga, Missouri, and now Vanderbilt.

Fortunteletly, well, maybe, unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, Alabama is securely in the NCAA tournament. Good luck predicting what this team will do there.

Alabama softball in Baton Rouge for first SEC series of the season

Patrick Murphy and the Alabama softball team are in Baton Rouge to prepare for the start of conference play against the LSU Tigers. Team 26 currently sits with a 20-0 record and has been arguably the most dominant team in softball this season.

Due to inclement weather, the series will not get the usual Friday start, instead, the two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday and wrap up the three-game series on Sunday. The second game on Saturday will be televised on the SEC Network.

Finally, spring football has arrived

Today is the day ladies and gentlemen. Nick Saban and the Alabama football team will hit the practice field today for the first time since suffering a defeat in the national championship game.

Several position groups have questions to be answered, but fortunately for the Tide, they return arguably the two best players in all of college football in reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young and defensive terror Will Anderson.

The Crimson Tide will practice just today before being off for spring break. Alabama will return to the practice field on Monday, March 21.

That is going to put an end to our Friday edition of Alabama Morning Drive. I hope everyone has a safe and happy day. Make sure to stay tuned to Roll Tide Wire for all the latest on the Alabama Crimson Tide!
