Alabama Morning Drive: NCAA Tournament field is set

The top stories involving Alabama and the SEC on Monday morning.

Good Monday morning folks. We have another exciting edition of Alabama Morning Drive to deliver here at Roll Tide Wire and we are certainly thrilled that you decided to join us this morning.

Just a couple of headlines win the day for the Tide and the SEC and we will discuss those just below. So grab your cup of coffee or latte and let’s get this Monday started off on the right foot.

Alabama basketball will try and stay classy in San Diego

March Madness has officially arrived. Sunday afternoon on CBS, the brackets were released and the Crimson Tide found themselves as a sixth seed and will await the winner Rutgers and Notre Dame.

Alabama has now made back-to-back tournament appearances for the first time since 2006.

Alabama is scheduled to play Friday afternoon in San Diego, CA.

A couple of SEC teams were hosed on Selection Sunday

Boy, I don’t know what else the selection committed wanted from Buzz Williams and the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies caught fire towards the end of the season and went on to wreak havoc in the SEC Tournament but apparently their 22-12 record and NET 44 ranking was not enough for the committee.

SEC Tournament champs Tennessee was also swindled out of a two-seed by the committee. The Vols had five more wins against quad one and quad two teams than what Duke did, but the Blue Devils received the benefit of the doubt in favor of the Vols.

Georgia basketball makes strange coaching hire

Oddly enough, maybe the strangest news around the SEC on Sunday was the fact that the Georiga Bulldogs announced its hiring of Florida Gators head coach Mike White to take over the head job in Athens.

The hiring came completely out of left field and left fans around the SEC in shock just moments before the brackets were revealed.

Mike White spent seven seasons as the head coach at Florida, amassing a 142-88 overall record with the Gators.

That is going to put an end to our Monday edition of Alabama Morning Drive. I hope everyone has a safe and happy day. Make sure to stay tuned to Roll Tide Wire for all the latest on the Alabama Crimson Tide!
