Alabama DL Justin Eboigbe not likely to return for the 2022 season

Unfortunate news for senior defensive lineman Justin Eboigbe.

Some unfortunate news has surfaced during Alabama’s bye week as Crimson Tide head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] announced on Wednesday that senior defensive lineman [autotag]Justin Eboigbe[/autotag] was unlikely to return for the 2022 season due to a neck injury.

Eboigbe competed in the first four games of the 2022 season and was having an impactful senior season for the Crimson Tide defense. From his interior defensive line position, Eboigbe had accumulated 11 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, and two quarterback hurries.

Eboigbe can take advantage of two redshirt years and return in 2023. He only played in four games this season and still has a COVID-affected year left to use if the Forest Park, Ga. native decided to do so.

When asked about Eboigbe during his weekly SEC coaches media teleconference, coach Saban said, “I think that he had a procedure done that would enhance his opportunity to be able to play in the future, but I don’t think that that’s gonna come this season.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor Eboigbe’s injury status and will provide any updates that are made available.
