The Oregon Ducks are now ranked No. 2 in the US LBM Coaches poll after their 32-31 victory over the previously No. 2 team Ohio State.
Texas remains No. 1 in the country after its 34-3 win over an injury-riddled Oklahoma team and Penn State moves into the No. 3 spot with its overtime win at USC.
As for the Buckeyes, the voters didn’t punish them too much as they dropped three spots to No. 5.
It turns out the biggest loser was Ole Miss after its 26-23 overtime loss to LSU. The 5-2 Rebels fell seven spots to No. 15 and the Tigers moved back into the top 10 at No. 8.
Now at 6-0 and 3-0 in conference play, Oregon is in the driver’s seat for an appearance at the Big Ten Championship Game. The Ducks have a road game at Purdue on Friday before coming home to play No. 21 Illinois.
It’s conceivable the Ducks would be the No. 1 team in the country the next time they play at Autzen. Texas hosts Georgia next weekend in yet another Top 5 matchup this season.
