Several Longhorns should hear their names called on Day 2 of the 2024 NFL draft.
In Pro Football Network’s latest seven-round mock draft, three Longhorns are projected to be taken off of the board in the second round. Byron Murphy and Adonai Mitchell were first-round picks for Texas.
Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat is projected to the Los Angeles Chargers with the No. 37 pick.
A scheme shift on defense is naturally going to solve some of the Chargers’ issues against the run, moving away from Staley’s light boxes on defense. However, they still need to add talent to their defensive line.
T’Vondre Sweat‘s size might make him seem like a pure nose tackle, but he is a true three-down player who can hold off double teams and collapse the pocket.
Speedy wide receiver Xavier Worthy is also slated in the second round to the Chicago Bears, pairing up with new quarterback Caleb Williams. Running back Jonathon Brooks rounded out the Longhorns in the second round as he is projected to the Green Bay Packers with the No. 58 pick.
