Where Ohio State’s Devin Brown lands on 247Sports top backup quarterbacks

Where should Brown land on the list of top backups? #GoBucks

If you live under a rock and missed it, Ohio State football announced its starting quarterback for the Indiana game: [autotag]Kyle McCord[/autotag].

The third-year player beat out second-year [autotag]Devin Brown[/autotag]. With McCord named the guy, the pecking order for all of the major programs is known barring any late injuries. That meant there would be speculation about which team has the best second stringer, and 247Sports Clint Brewster gave his take on the situation.

Brown wasn’t at the top of the list, but he is a very respectable No. 5 behind some other very solid quarterbacks. There is an argument to be made that the Buckeye is better than Oregon State’s Aidan Chiles, who checked in at No. 4, but I guess we’d be splitting hairs with that one.

In no way does head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag]’s decision mean  Brown will be riding the bench all season. In fact, he will get some playing time against the Hoosiers. I don’t think this is the last we hear about Ohio State and it’s quarterback situation, but for now McCord gets the first snaps and Brown will be following him.
