In a surprise, Cole Beasley has returned to the Buffalo Bills.
On Tuesday, the team announced that Beasley was added to the practice squad and it’s expected that he could be called up to the active roster pretty quickly.
However, the Bills (10-3) had to make room for that transaction. The corresponding move came in the form of Marquez Stevenson as the team announced he had been released from their practice squad.
Stevenson has had a journey in recent weeks with the team.
Last week, Buffalo released him. He was let go on the same day his 21-day injured reserve window ended. The Bills previously designated Stevenson to return from IR and had to make a choice and decided to release him in hopes they could get him back on their practice squad.
That exact scenario unfolded… and the Bills eventually ended up letting Stevenson go anyway to make room for Beasley.
Stevenson, a 2021 sixth-round draft pick, had foot surgery in August after a training camp injury. His release turns some heads because Buffalo also has the likes of KeeSean Johnson and Tanner Gentry on their practice squad–Both wideouts.
The Bills still opted to release a former draft pick over them. Perhaps Stevenson had not yet progressed from his injury as the team had hoped.
In addition to the creative receiver moves, Buffalo made a switch at defensive tackle. Brandin Bryant, who was previously with the Bills and signed by Houston this season was released by the Texans last week. Bryant has since signed to Buffalo’s roster and CJ Brewer was released to make room for him.
