A Dodgers reporter attempted to ride the Brewers’ home run slide and it did not go well

Let’s just say the slide down did NOT go as planned!

When the Dodgers took on the Brewers (+150) in Milwaukee on Thursday night, the L.A. broadcast decided to put their on-field reporter, David Vassegh, on a special assignment.

He was going to ride the Brewers’ famous home run slide — aka Bernie’s Slide — at American Family Field. Most of the time, the titular Bernie Brewer mascot rides the slide for a bit of fun after one of the hometown players mashes a dinger. Though, fans can purchase tickets for some behind-the-scenes fun to get the whole slide experience for themselves.

Unfortunately for Vassegh, his ride didn’t exactly go as intended, as he ultimately ended up in a cast after a bumpy landing:

The good news is that Vassegh appeared to be OK — save for the cast. That probably also explains why broadcasts Joe Davis and Nomar Garciaparra felt so comfortable cracking up about his accident. On that note — give the person on the broadcast crew who cut to Vassegh holding up his cast and smiling immediately after the clip of his slide down. Bravo, folks. No notes.

To Vassegh’s credit, he was a good sport about his slide mishap, saying, “I tried to play it up Shaqtin’ a Fool style … and you’re looking at the fool.”
