PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers had the momentum to begin their Round 1 series with the Toronto Raptors and they were looking for more on Monday in Game 2. With the Raptors missing a key player in rookie Scottie Barnes, they were able to take advantage and take another step in this series with a 2-0 lead.
The Raptors started well and took an early 11-2 lead as they were playing with the desperation of a team that was facing an 0-2 deficit. However, Joel Embiid then kicked it into high gear and the Sixers went on a big run which eventually led to an easy 112-97 win as the series now shifts to Toronto for two games. Philadelphia led by as many as 29 before Toronto cut it to 11, but they were able to recover and come away with a win.
Embiid scored 19 points in the first quarter on his way to 31 for the game and he had 11 rebounds, Tyrese Maxey had 23 points, eight assists, and nine rebounds, James Harden had 14 and six assists with six rebounds, and Tobias Harris added 20 and 10 rebounds. Danny Green also had 11 points and he had a posterized dunk in transition that belied his 34 years of age.
