Pro Football Focus put how the Buffalo Bills’ 2021 season has gone into perspective a bit more.

At 4-1, the Bills are ranked amongst the best teams in the NFL. Especially after Buffalo put away opponents with a couple of early-season blowouts.

Despite the lopsided scores, many in western New York have talked more about the defense as opposed to Buffalo’s offense. That side of the ball has been the more impressive bunch.

PFF backs that as well.

After the first five games of the year, the football analytics outlet has placed four Bills defenders amongst the team’s best five players so far in 2021. The lone player on offense is quarterback Josh Allen.

Here’s the full breakdown:

Amongst these selections, the only surprising additions are the pass rushers. Jerry Hughes and AJ Epenesa usually don’t light up the score sheet because of the rotation Buffalo plays on the defensive line, however, PFF still recognizes their efforts.

The other three are more expected.

Allen’s addition needs little introduction with the way he has played. Milano and Hyde have been getting praises from PFF in recent weeks as well.

Milano and Hyde have clocked in as PFF’s highest-graded players at their respective positions earlier this season. Currently they are not, but both are still among the best.

The two also landed on PFF’s “first-quarter All-Pro team” just last week.
