Ohio State’s Brian Hartline has been worth his weight in gold since being named wide receiver coach in 2019. Since that time, the former Buckeye star has pulled one of the greatest three-year hauls in college football history. Twice he’s nabbed the No. 1 rated receiver in the class and could be a third if Caleb Burton comes back to form after an injury-plagued junior year.
After getting four of the top 21 receivers in the 2022 class to commit to OSU, Hartline is again being recognized for his outstanding work. 247Sports not only ranks recruits but also ranks recruiters. And at the top of the list currently is none other than wide receiver whisperer himself.
When Ohio State is a finalist for a WR, when was the last time Brian Hartline lost a recruiting battle? I seriously cannot remember.

This is not Hartline’s first experience in the top spot of recruiting rankings. He finished first in 2020 after signing No. 1 ranked receiver Julian Flemming along with Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Gee Scott Jr. who were also the number five and ten rated receivers in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings. That class also included Mookie Cooper who was ranked the No. 16 receiver in the class but has since transferred to Missouri.
Hartline has put together another impressive receiving class for 2022. Assuming all stay committed and sign on the dotted line, the Ohio State receivers coach could be in line for his second National Recruiter of the Year award.
This would be well-deserved recognition for the man who has built “Zone 6” into a household name.
