Former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones has a resumé that many would assume looks great to NFL front offices when it comes time for the 2021 draft.
However, that is not the case.
NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero shared what some anonymous NFL executives think of the Heisman finalist.
“Mac’s ‘Bama tape is really, really good. There’s no denying that,” a college scouting director said. “But you watch him in Mobile — this doesn’t really feel like a big, big, big-time guy. You trade all that s—, for him?”
That’s not all. Another executive called Jones’ character into question, referencing his 2017 DUI arrest and reports of anger issues from his youth.
“I don’t even trust the player, let alone that,” an AFC executive said. “Who can’t throw to four first-rounders and hand the ball to Najee (Harris)?”
Finally, some don’t believe Jones is capable of growing as a player, and that he’s hit his ceiling, unlike other quarterbacks from this draft class.
“But he’s right up against the ceiling to me, where these other guys, if they can progress — you’re talking about Justin Fields and Zach Wilson — those are going to be dangerous dudes now.”
With the 2021 NFL draft only a few days away, questions surrounding Jones and his rumored landing spots will be answered.
