Red Wings at Hurricanes: Projected starting goalies
Thomas Greiss (1-11-3, 3.37 GAA, .885 SV%) vs. James Reimer (10-3-0, 2.90 GAA, .902 SV%)
Greiss is projected to start after Jonathan Bernier was pulled from Tuesday’s start against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Greiss has just one victory but has deserved more. He made 40 saves on 42 shots in his first appearance of the season against the Hurricanes in Detroit Jan. 14.
Reimer is likely to get the nod against the Red Wings in the first game in front of fans at PNC Arena this season. Reimer hasn’t faced the Red Wings yet this season.

Red Wings at Hurricanes: Odds, lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Hurricanes 4, Red Wings 2
Money line (ML)
The Hurricanes (-300) are heavy favorites at home, and they will cost you three times your potential return. Carolina should be victorious on home ice, but over the long haul that’s not a good betting strategy.
AVOID.
C Vincent Trocheck has been red-hot for Carolina, scoring a goal in three straight games. If the Canes can win, it will be head coach Rod Brind’Amour’s 100th behind the bench in Raleigh.

Against the spread (ATS)
The HURRICANES -1.5 (-110) are a better value at home at near even-money. Carolina won the season opener in Detroit by a 3-0 score, also covering the spread, but they were dropped 4-2 in the follow-up outing.
The Canes have covered the puck line in five of their past seven victories.
Over/Under (O/U)
The OVER 5.5 (-135) is the play on the alternate line. The Over is 6-4-1 across the past 11 games for the Hurricanes, while the Red Wings hit the Over in three of their past four games.
The Red Wings allowed 4 goals per game across their past four outings, and they’re averaging a respectable 3.25 goals per game during the span. That’s a good recipe for Over results.
