Red Wings at Lightning: Projected starting goalies
Thomas Greiss (0-5-2, 3.03 GAA, .897 SV%) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (5-1-1, 2.14 GAA, .925 SV%)
Greiss allowed three goals on 30 shots in Sunday’s home loss against the Florida Panthers. He was close, but no cigar, which has been the case all season. Greiss has allowed three or fewer goals in each of his six starts. The Red Wings have managed a total of eight total goals of offensive support in six starts.
Vasilevskiy is coming off a pair of wins against the Nashville Predators, including a 29-save effort in a 5-2 win Monday. He has really had just one poor outing all season, coughing up four goals on 27 shots in a 5-2 loss at Columbus on Jan. 23.

Red Wings at Lightning: Odds, lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Lightning 5, Red Wings 1
Money line (ML)
The Lightning (-300) will cost you three times your potential return, which isn’t a great long-term betting strategy. Remember, last season, although they were using backup goaltender Curtis McElhinney, the Lightning lost March 8 against the Red Wings in the most recent matchup as -270 favorites. AVOID, and look to the puck line.
Against the spread (ATS)
The LIGHTNING -1.5 (-110) are significant favorites, as you rarely have to still lay money when playing a puck line unless as team is a favorite of roughly -280 or so. Even so, it’s a value play, as the Red Wings do not have the horses to keep up with the high-octane Lightning. Three of Tampa’s first wins this season have also covered the puck line, including last time out against Nashville Monday.
Over/Under (O/U)
The OVER 5.5 (-120) is the way to go, as the Lightning could possibly cash the Over all on their own on a good night. Tampa will have to do the heavy lifting, but if the Red Wings can cobble together a goal or two, this Over should cash rather easily. The Over is 3-1 in the past four for Tampa Bay. The Under is 6-2 across the past eight for Detroit, but the Over is 2-1 in its past three road affairs.
