The Georgia Bulldogs have added another commitment in Darris Smith, a talented in-state defensive end who plays for Appling County High School in Baxley, Georgia. Baxley is located in the southern part of Georgia.
Darris Smith is a member of the class of 2022. He has excellent length at six-foot-six but weighs only 225 pounds. Smith will look to add some bulk before playing in the SEC.
Smith is not rated by many of the major recruiting sites, but is considered a three-star recruit at the moment. His ranking may rise as more information becomes available about the Appling County junior.
Smith has received scholarship offers from top college football programs including Tennessee, UNC, Auburn, Michigan State and South Carolina.
It didn’t take Darris Smith long to commit to the University of Georgia. The Dawgs offered him a scholarship back in October. Six weeks later he announced his commitment to UGA via his Twitter account:

Smith is a great athlete. He plays both basketball and football for Appling County. He projects to be either an outside linebacker or a defensive end in college.
The Georgia commit shows good burst and has a knack for exploiting mismatches in pass protection. Smith has good body control. He frequently finds his way into the opposing backfield and has a lot of potential as an edge rusher. He’s even utilized his length and basketball boxing-out skills to score touchdowns as a tight end:
