UPDATE: Ohio State’s game against Illinois has been canceled because of a COVID-19 outbreak within the OSU football program.
Before Ohio State takes the field against its next opponent, we always go back and review some of the tape and scout them. This week, it’s Illinois. The Fighting Illini have had an up and down season. For the first three weeks, they looked like one of the worst teams in the Big Ten. However, a win against Rutgers and then Nebraska has Illinois confident and looking better. It starts with the head coach Lovie Smith sho sets the tone for the entire team, beard or not.
It wasn’t until the Nebraska game that the Illini were really a balanced team. It all starts at quarterback. The situation under center has been extremely fluid to say the least. Some of it is due to COVID-19, but some of it is that each of the three quarterbacks I watched provide different things. I will assume Brandon Peters will start, but that doesn’t mean the others won’t see playing time. With that, we start with the first scouting note.
