Ryan Day gives update on Chris Olave status for Saturday at Penn State

Ryan Day shares injury status on Chris Olave and game plan if he can’t play Saturday against Penn State.

Chris Olave was having himself a game before being removed with a head injury after taking a vicious hit Saturday against Nebraska. He had hauled in 6 receptions for 104 yards before exiting the game.

Head injuries are always tricky, and after not returning to Saturday’s contest, Olave’s status was immediately up in the air for the upcoming game against Penn State. However, it seems that the OSU veteran wideout is on track to take the field.

Head Coach, Ryan Day was asked about Olave’s status for Saturday and it appears Olave has been practicing.

“He’s had a good strong week of practice.” Day Said

Day also acknowledged that it’s not a done deal that his star receiver will play and that having depth at the position makes life a whole lot easier. Day shared his thoughts if Olave couldn’t suit up.

“We’d just move some things around, like we always do. That’s where depth comes into play. We’ll see how the week goes.” said Day

Olave and quarterback Justin Fields have become one of the best combos in college football. Last year, the two hooked up on 49 receptions for 849 yards and 12 touchdowns. If Olave can’t go, it would be a loss for the Buckeye offense for sure, but it sure is nice to have teammates who can pick you up when you’re down.

Ohio State takes on Penn State this Saturday at 7:30 pm on ABC.
