He may forever be No. 1 in our hearts and on the field as an Ohio State Buckeye, but former cornerback Jeff Okudah now has his new jersey number for the Detroit Lions.
As we get into the first game week for the NFL for the 2020-2021 season, some loose ends like depth charts and other things are starting to round into form. Another one of those things that needed to be cleared up is a new jersey number for Okudah because he isn’t permitted to wear No. 1 because of NFL jersey position rules.
We haven’t seen the Lions depth chart yet, but the team did assign new jersey numbers to a few players on Tuesday. Okudah had been practicing in the No. 1 we’ve been accustomed to while another number was determined.
So … drum roll please — Okudah’s new number that he will most likely be known for during the duration of his playing career in the NFL will be the No. 20. Unless that is, he ends up finding his way to another team and has to fight over that jersey number with another player already married to it.

It may be a different number, but it’s still the same talented guy behind it. Hopefully, it’ll be the start of a long career and the No. 20 will become legendary in Detroit and the NFL.
We don’t have pictures of Okudah in his new number yet, but as soon as one surfaces, we’ll post one.
