Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was a national star while leading the Crimson Tide football team. After being drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the No. 5 selection, there’s been a lot of excitement surrounding his NFL debut. However, fans can get a look into Tagovailoa’s life before the season starts through a documentary by Fox Sports.
Charlie Dixon, the Executive Vice President of Content for Fox Sports, told Variety about the projects upcoming release.
“Tua is a beloved young star with an incredible story,” said Dixon. “We like to say, ‘Fox is Football’, and since it’s in our DNA, that means providing the deepest insight into the sport both on and off the field. The film’s level of access and pure emotion provides a new level of appreciation for his journey.”
The documentary will highlight Tagovailoa’s experience in the last year, interviewing doctors, coaches and people who have helped train him in preparation for the draft and for his rookie season in the NFL.
Joe Otterson of Variety writes that the film will be part of Fox Sports’ “MAGNIFY” series.
Tagovailoa commented on the film, as well.
“I’m excited about this film for a variety of reasons, but mainly because it represents the deep love and appreciation that I have for my culture, my faith and, more importantly, my family,” said Tagovailoa. “I am extremely proud of this project and the efforts it took to get here. I look forward to sharing it with everyone.”
While the film is set to debut Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. ET on Fox, it will be followed by an eight-part digital series titled ‘Tua Talks,’ which will become available in the near future.
Roll Tide Wire will bring you more information on the film and the series as more information becomes available
