After a rather entertaining first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, we’re now in the midst of the second round, and Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins has been selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the No. 55 overall pick.
According to ESPN’s stats on Dobbins, the three-year back didn’t record a single fumble. That’s over 700 carries and not a single one hit the ground. That’s some serious ball security.
On top of taking care of the ball, Dobbins is a hard downhill runner and showed at the collegiate level that he can break tackles with ease. He’s also got the speed to be a game-breaker once he gets in the second level.
His sturdy 5-foot, 10-inch, 217-pound frame should allow him to continue to bulldoze opponents.
Here’s another point made by CBS Sports’ Heath Cummings.
“Dobbins displays good footwork on tape and was very good at setting up defenders behind his outstanding offensive line. He showed us in 2019 that he can handle a workhorse role as well.”
Dobbins may have fallen further than many anticipated, but he’s got the talent, work ethic, and character to shock the league and turn into an All-Pro type. Baltimore got itself an extremely good value here. It might THE steal of the draft.
