Ohio State signs top five 2020 recruiting class according to USA TODAY

USA TODAY has ranked the 2020 college football recruiting classes by team, and it has Ohio State in the top five.

Head coach Ryan Day and the rest of the Ohio State coaching staff just polished off the final touches of the 2020 recruiting class by getting four-star athlete Cameron Martinez to sign on the bottom line Wednesday. Up until that point, the Buckeyes had everyone else already in the fold.

With the official signing of Martinez, OSU signed a total of 25 players, with fourteen of them already on campus as early enrollees. It’s a great class, and in fact, it’s another top five haul according to multiple recruiting services and media outlets.

USA TODAY is one of those sites that has Ohio State high on the list, right at No. 5 in the country behind Georgia, Alabama, Clemson and LSU. Included in those coming to Columbus are three of the top 25 players, some great offensive lineman, and arguably the best wide receiver class to ever come to Ohio State.

Here’s what USA TODAY says about OSU’s fifth rated 2020 class:

The Buckeyes closed their 2020 recruiting class strong Wednesday by signing four-star athlete Cameron Martinez, who had been verbally committed since July. Ohio State did especially strong work on the offensive line in this class, signing six prospects at the position — one five-star, one four-star and four three-stars. It also added four receivers, including two five-stars in Julian Fleming (the 247Sports Composite’s No. 3 overall prospect) and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Now we’ll have to see how this class molds into the players already in the program. It looks like Ohio State will continue to roll though with Ryan Day in charge.
