Ahead of today’s SEC Championship Game, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith emphasized the importance of this game for the LSU Tigers. LSU is in the SEC Championship for only the second time this decade and the first time since they beat Georgia in 2011.
With Alabama and Auburn being consistent powerhouses at football, it is very tough for LSU to make it to the SEC Championship Game. In fact, the Alabama Crimson Tide have made the SEC title game five of the last eight games (including this one) and won every time they’ve played. Including two heart-breaking wins over the Georgia Bulldogs.
Here’s what Stephen A. Smith had to say about the game:

I have to agree with Stephen A. Smith. Although LSU and Auburn are talented programs who are recruiting top-notch talent, Alabama is incredibly talented and isn’t going anywhere. It’ll be interesting to see in the future if LSU or Auburn can swing the SEC West’s balance of power.
To an extent this pressure applies to UGA too. Georgia has made it three straight years, but with Jake Fromm likely heading to the NFL, the Bulldogs will have to find success with another QB in the Kirby Smart era.
