LB Matt Milano
Age: 25
At this point we’ve labeled guys who could ink another contract after next season. With Milano, there’s no reason to wait. The Bills are likely already in talks with the linebacker’s representative about getting a deal done and done now. Drafted in the same year and round with quarterback Nathan Peterman, the Bills struck gold with Milano. In the popularity contest that is the Pro Bowl, Milano’s been overlooked in the first three years of his career, but he should get there some day.
Milano can do it all as a decent run-stopper, pass-rusher and perhaps his best trait, in coverage. In 2018 alone he had three interceptions. In Buffalo’s defensive scheme, playing the nickel (two linebackers) happens a lot. Edmunds and Milano in those roles for the long-term could be the key to keeping this unit among the league’s best.
