LB Corey Thompson
Age: 26
Corey Thompson’s contributions to the Bills are similar to Marlowe’s but on a bit bigger scale. About three-games worth larger. In 2019, Thompson was active in 12 games for the Bills to Marlowe’s nine. Thompson provides the Bills with depth and versatility on defense behind both Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano. Those two have been relatively health in their young careers, but overlooking the depth chart could be a big mistake. In addition, Thompson has played a bigger role on special teams than Marlowe, appearing in 45 percent of Buffalo’s snaps on special teams a year ago. Thompson also might have gotten a solid foot in the door to the Bills too, as he was active in nine-straight games to end last season.
Thompson signed with the Bills as an undrafted rookie in 2018. Like Marlowe, barring any big setbacks in 2020, he could find himself another short-term extension.
