No. 2 cornerback needs to be better

As of late, Bills cornerback Levi Wallace has held Josh Norman off in terms of the team’s No. 2 cornerback job across from Tre’Davious White. Against the Niners, Wallace certainly didn’t guarantee himself a job in 2021, though. Certainly things can change before then, but Wallace was clearly abused in this one.

The most glaring moment against Wallace was Brandon Aiyuk’s touchdown. On the two-yard strike, Wallace wasn’t even close as Aiyuk juked off of him on the slant route. Aiyuk wasn’t done there, though. On a 49-yard bomb up the left sideline, Aiyuk easily had a step or two on the defensive back. Wallace also allowed a 20-yard pass to Aiyuk.

Wallace played in every snap against the 49ers and simply has to be better. Norman might see more playing time, or at least should have a chance to during practice next week. Teams trying to avoid White’s side of the field is nothing new, that’s why Norman was brought in.

But Wallace gave up at least 150-plus yards while in coverage against the 49ers, who do have decent receivers in Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, but Buffalo will have much tougher quarterbacks than Nick Mullens on the docket going forward. This will have to be sorted out.
