3-Point Shot Wisconsin vs. Rutgers

What are three things Wisconsin needs to do to register their first road win of the season against Rutgers?

3-POINTER: LIMITING RUTGERS POST TOUCHES

Rutgers offense has been its ability to get the basketball in the lane and try to generate high percentage shots around the rim. Through nine games it has worked for them considering twice this season they have scored at least 50-points in the paint.

Nate Reuvers has registered a block in every game this season as he’s averaging 2.6 blocks per game, which ranks third in the Big Ten. Although Reuvers has shown his ability to play strong post defense this year he has gotten into foul trouble at times.

With Rutgers attacking the paint early and often it has also meant they’ve been able to get to the free throw line as Rutgers has averaged 21.4 free throw attempts a game.

Reuvers will need to be ready as the Scarlett Knights will certainly try and get him into foul trouble to try and make the Badgers defense more susceptible in allowing points around the basket.

Making it important that Reuvers is disciplined in defending shot attempts around the basket and when he should try and block a shot. If Reuvers can stay on the floor and make life difficult for Rutgers to consistently generate quality looks around the rim it will force them to settle for jump shots an area where they have struggled.

In particular, Wisconsin’s defense will need to try and force them to settle for shots from three as they’ve shot 28.3 percent (47-for-166) from distance this year. If Wisconsin can limit their quality looks it will disrupt Rutgers rhythm and allow for Wisconsin to hold them to one shot per possession.
